Focus: Practical understanding of present circumstances.

My experience: About 3 years ago, I sent a trespassing woman off my residential property. There was zero physical contact or threat of violence, just verbal direction to leave immediately. Her first action, instead of getting away, was to draw her cell phone and call law enforcement. Then she left. The deputies who arrived about 20 minutes later made every effort to get a confession of physical assault from me: (1) get the suspect to repeat their story multiple times until an inconsistency emerges (2) "just apologize and we will go away" (3) good cop / bad cop. This on my turf and with no physical evidence of harm to the woman.

EDIT: Relevant detail I accidentally omitted: After having been supposedly attacked, the woman stood on the curb outside my house waiting for the police response. She was more interested in seeing the guys with guns have their way with me than actually putting distance between herself and "danger". It was interesting to witness the deputies white knight for a trespasser. /EDIT

I didn't fall to those tactics because I know better, but many don't. Survival of this kind of situation hinges on recognition that, no matter how obvious the scenario, if a woman claims harm a white knight response will follow -- it could be from your social group or guys with guns and uniforms, but it will happen.

So what's happened to you? What did you learn?
