If I remember correctly, the most dangerous job that women outnumber men in, is bank teller.

[–]5th_Law_of_Robotics 29 points30 points31 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Also jobs where feminists never show any interest in closing the gender gap.

[–]Demolition_Menz 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's ridiculous. I know a feminist who wants to close the melding gap -- oh wait, no sorry, that's my male cousin, who wants a job with some sort of melding operation. Carry on.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Don't men in general work more dangerous jobs? Like men are more willing to work construction, be soldiers, firemen etc. than women might be inclined.

[–]Demolition_Menz 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's only because women are too awesome to work such petty jobs.

[–]redmagistrate50 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Also more physically demanding jobs. I've been an overhire swinging a sledge for 60 hours a week, it pays quite well for unskilled labor. Unsurprisingly the position was pretty universally male.

What would your boss do if a woman asked for a job? I used to work physically demanding all male jobs. I had to work really hard, smart and fast to keep up with everyone. Basically they chatted and took breaks and I didn't. I hopped around wood mills and unloaded trucks and did demolition for ten years but after I had a baby I got soft. I work in a kitchen now and I never lift more than 50 lbs at a time. I can tell you it's not easy as a five four woman to get hired on an all male crew and I did work my ass off twice as hard to do the same work. The women that want these jobs even with experience will get passed over for someone's 18 yr old nephew and tell me I'm wrong. I get it they want strong men but you can't have it both ways. You can't say women can't do the job because they are weak then bitch they don't do the job pick one. Hire women and give them a chance maybe fire that guy on every crew that does literally nothing and replace him with a hard working Bitch or shut up. Hire women for the jobs or decide you are genetically superior and shut the fuck up and do the work! I do t get it. I like physical labor.

I don't think youy deserve those downvotes, it's a valid question. My boss has hired a dozen women that I've witnessed and likely many more over the years. He's a great guy and we literally always have a gig that needs more people.

The women hired typically don't last, you said it yourself, they have to be double timing constantly to keep pace and it grinds them down. That you kept such a pace for ten years suggests that you are an exceptional human being and I'd be happy to work with you. All you have to do is put up with my painfully bad puns.

Yep. You can be a lineman that just finished apprenticeship, work a hurricane recovery area and pull $35-50/hr. Good luck trying to convince a lady used to 15 coffee breaks in an 8hr shift to dangle a couple stories off the ground and close that wage gap.

[–]hatefulreason 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

hey hey hey! the lineman also deserves 15 coffee breaks ! coffee break equality !! don't let the fat cats convince you otherwise !

[–]redwinemamatreefrog -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Ummm woman here! I actually did hurricane work and was the only woman on every crew I worked on. It's really fucking hard to find a way into the boys club. Not only did I need lots of street cred to ever get hired but while everyone was on their coffee break I was working. When you are a woman working a man's job you never take a break and you are constantly gossiped about, grabbed, poked and asked on dates and you need to take everything like a man. I just don't think it's easy for a woman to get the job. I had to know the owner so I wouldn't get passed over for some kid who never had a job in his life and it was my city I was helping to rebuild. Y'all are real surly in your boys club here.

[–]genkernels 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yep, its a bit more difficult than some people might believe. Though to be fair:

you need to take everything like a man.

this probably had something to do with it.

[–]chambertlo 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's no wonder women aren't crying for equality there.

Canada's cabinet is 50% women #becauseits2017. I wonder what percentage of JTF2's special forces operators are women #becauseits2017.

What does having the ability and willingness to kill exactly have to do with governing? Just wondering?????

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

deleted What is this?

[–]Karissa36 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Big commercial passenger planes are very safe. Smaller planes are not. Smaller commercial planes are often used to transport goods and passengers to isolated regions with harsh terrain and weather conditions. When I lived in Alaska it seemed like a small plane went down on average about twice a month. These pilots were a lot more like taxi drivers than pilots who work for big commercial airlines. They own their own plane, make their own deals and fly into "airports" that are scarcely more than an empty field.

[–]plainwalk 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The routes through BC from the lower 48 into Alaska for those small pilots are treacherous as well with few airports of any size (or services), limited communication, and hazardous terrain. The tiny airlines contracted out to service remote communities are infamous for cutting corners on airplane maintenance, overworking pilots, and pressuring their pilots to fly in poor weather.

Not a safe job.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Doesn't that just come from the fact women are weaker than men???...

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

"fact". This is gender politics not Wittgenstein:

  • 1 The world is all that is the case.
  • 1.1 The world is the totality of facts, not of things.
  • 1.11 The world is determined by the facts, and by their being all the facts.....

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It is a fact. Women are phisically weaker than men. It's biology.

[–]ee4m 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Its going to get worse.

So?? Man have more physical strength and dexterity, of course they would be all male

[–]TheNextMilo 16 points17 points18 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yes, that’s why we get paid more than women. It is because we do harder, more dangerous jobs.

[+][deleted] -8 points-7 points-6 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Women dont work there, because men are better for the job. If women INDEED did work there, pay equal to the job should be the rule.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Learn to English first.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Now you're just being a douche.

[–]Golgathus[S] 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So the point being that feminist bitch and moan but they don't realize that most of the dangerous jobs are held by men

[–]Golgathus[S] 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And I would theorize that proportionally the more dangerous the occupation the higher the pay in some instances
