TL;DR The MRM shouldn't fight for equality, but against inequality. And that's not just semantics.

I've been mulling this over for an awhile and still find it difficult to format into a convincing argument. It should go with out saying this isn't a traditionalist argument, or one to take rights away from women, or grant more rights to men. Not even close. This is to question this drive and desire of equality as the term itself becomes more and more obfuscated. As places like Norway have showcased a more egalitarian model leads to a superior economic growth and stability (at least if one measures national GDP, individual economic growth and stability is harder to parse and to determine casual links as to way one has and hasn't found finical security beyond simple individual effort which this isn't heavily about.) It has also lead to greater gender divide in professional and educational choices where societies and cultures with stricter gender roles see less division in choices between the gender (see Iran or India.) Not only that as societies become more egalitarian in their expectations of people happiness of both men and women have seen a decrees, especially from women. This little paragraph is hardly exhaustive on the subject but with this contradictory mess where goals and desires seem to lead to opposite of which the assumed end goal of equality.

To put it has simply as possible. We, as a species, have not single fucking clue what "equality" looks like and how to get there and all efforts to do so have lead to terrifying ideas. So if the MRM plays this game of abstraction where not going to win because we don't know what success would look like. Feminism claims to champion equality but continually bitch amongst themselves over what that looks like and have decided to condemn specific groups on historical wrongs when they're generation's removed. Some how they've reached a point where to remove gender imbalances they want to destroy the basic concept of gender. Notions that underrepresented groups need protections and grants to correct inequality of outcome. The hundreds of millions of bodies piled up under all those communist and fascist regimes of the twentieth century with their own interpretation of equality have gone utterly ignored. Equality isn't a noble notion of the betterment of humanity but of term so inept in definition that has excused and propagate some the most harmful ideas and institutions this world has ever seen.

Wait! I hear your brain churning what about equality under the law? Just because we can't guarantee equality to all individuals in every facets of society ones legal treatment should be equal between all. Really? Legal immigrants don't have the same rights as citizens. Career criminals aren't punished the same as first offenders for the same offence. Those convicted have restrictions placed on them than the peaceful majority. Those under the legal age of driving, drinking, and consent can't engage those activities under the law. It may be equality in principle but its hardly in function.

Besides at the end of the day if we as a species do achieve equality its only going to be noticed in hindsight. That this notion that it should be are grandest drive and our greatest achievement is absurd. It should be just a blip on the radar while we watch as we stick a flag on the ass end of Uranus's moon. Sadly I'm an optimist so one day the MRM won't be necessary. But that means limiting our focus, fix the things that need fixing such as custodial rights, divorce laws, circumcision, male suicide, etc.. We shouldn't fight for equality, we're not philosophers or social engineers seeking an absurd idea of an utopian world. We're just men and women wanting to fix obvious faults in the system so that the generation after us can look back chuckle a bit and be glad we're not that stupid anymore.
