Woman resents her husband because she is the "mainx bread winner. What about all the working husbands and stay at home wives? "equality"

I was surprised how supportive many of the top comments and responses were for a post without a "Serious" tag. Though there were some of the inevitable "I wish I were you" / "it was stupid for you to turn her down", there weren't as many as as I anticipated, and many weren't as popular. I'm glad to see this issue getting so much positive recognition

Same! I'm happy to see there are mostly positive responses. This is a great example of what needs to be the norm for men. Not perfect, but a good step in the right direction! :)

The fact that people are even discussing it openly is a fucking miracle really, before you couldn't even get anyone to acknowledge this sort of thing happening to men as we all know, this is actually a pleasant surprise.

No, the right step is not turning men into women who are creeped out by anything.

There was a ton of casual sexual assault stories where the woman just sort of laughed it off and walked away without consequences.

I'm mid 50s, male and work with male survivors of sexual abuse. I'm so relieved to see platforms like Reddit exposing men's experience of sexual assault and rape.

My personal story is that I have experienced a number of incidences of sexual assault but didn't have those words to describe it at the time. Exposure of stories like those on the linked thread are helpful to men to make sense of what happened. They help me even now.

Really with the RAINN link? Fuck RAINN, they can take their gender biased rape advocacy elsewhere, and iirc it was rapecounselling that deleted my post about my expirence (probably because my rapist was female). I don't think it was rape because afaik I'm autobanned from there.

[–]Tedesche 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Actually, for one of the mainstream rape victim advocacy organizations, RAINN is pretty decent. They've always acknowledged men can be raped too, and while they need to update their stats, they try to do their work without getting into all the gender politics.
