Woman is for circumcision because "men already enjoy sex more than women" and implies that an intact male will just "be even more aroused" Point: male sexuality is feared or at least looked down on.

It does work just fine. My quality of life is great, and being that I am one of the luckier ones, I am thankful for having what I do. Now that said I find genital mutilation to be barbaric and a shameful thing that we still do, based on an idiotic acceptance of a confusion surrounding correlation and causation. I find it horrible. I wish it weren’t done to me, but it was.... now that’s the point I want to get into.....

Men aren’t clamoring to shout from the rooftops that they have a messed up penis. They don’t want to admit it to themselves, and they don’t want to feel like they are inferior, so you’re not going to get a bunch of men who can use their penis as desired with satisfactory effect to proclaim that their dicks were “mutilated”.

Social campaigns like ending a needless elective cosmetic surgery on the genitals of infants are essentially a really hard thing to advertise. Convince men not to do to their baby boy what was done to them....

So I think the approach is wrong, here is a quick attempt at an analogy...

So, you and I both were given first vehicles by our parents. Both of us got working vehicles. They both get us to where we need to go reliably. But one vehicle is in perfect shape. Everything it was equipped with from the factory still works, even the heated seats. The other car has almost nothing working except the basics, even the stereo doesn’t work. But they both have airbags, seatbelts, good tires and are mechanically reliable. They do the job, and as long as you don’t know what it’s like to drive a car with heated seats in the wintertime, you’ll never feel like you’re missing out.... but maybe your kid should know the joys of having functional heated seats, and so when you buy him that first car, don’t rip the heated seats out before he even knows you’ve bought the car, simply because you “never had them and didn’t need them anyway!”.

Most Men won’t ever get on board with complaining that their penis is multilated, even if that’s an accurate statement.

I'm a woman, so feel free to disregard my opinion, but to me the circumcision issue isn't about whether it works or not. I get outraged because as with any surgery, no matter how minor, it carries it's share of risks. If there is any possibility of complication, then the person getting the surgery needs to be made aware of the risks and benefits before making the decision. I don't care if it all goes perfectly fine 99.999 % of the time. That's not much comfort to the men who suffered permanent, life altering damage as a result of THEIR circumcision. I don't think they much care just how many men are fine with their circumcisions.

I agree. My point was, you’re not going to get fathers to stop doing it to their sons by convincing them that their penis is fucked up. You’ll do it by allowing them to see that, even if it’s fine for you, that’s not something you should decide for your child. I agree with you.

[–]Rodian-Singer 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I mostly just think there needs to be a law against it. Forget convincing fathers, we need to convince lawmakers.

[–]IrideTheDirt 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lawmakers who also have penises, might be fathers, and will brush the topic aside like many people who’ve not been made aware how horrible the practice is.

I'm sure my fingers would "work just fine" if my fingernails were surgically removed as an infant. As an adult i'd be used to fingernailless fingers. He'll I wouldn't even have to worry about cleaning under them. Yay!

Still doesn't mean it's something society should allow.

Me neither but it doesn't mean I want to see it happen to more kids no matter the cost to me

[–]GreasedLightning 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The hope is illustrates the point succinctly enough that people think, without being too engaged in the subject. People sometimes have the shortest attention spans, so you need to compress the entirety of the point into a short little remark that illustrates and implies all the points you need so they can connect the dots.

I'm probably getting something similar done if I ever work up the courage lol.

Let's just say I have a bit too much.

[–]DarkDoesThings 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Circumcision is really amputation for the following reasons:

"Eh,d doesn't need it"

"Yup, reckon that'll keep 'im from masturbatin'"

Circumcision apologists are not civilized people and in a good world would be removed from society.

[–]8thling 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

When you think about circumcision for more than 5 seconds it's surreal in how fucked up it is. WE ARE CUTTING OFF PARTS OF BABIES BODIES. Circumcision is far and away the greatest evil in the western world, it's not even close (unless you believe that abortion is murder, but if you're that scientifically illiterate you're probably ok with circumcision). It's disgusting to me that women claim they are oppressed when we literally tolerate cutting off parts of baby boy's bodies. None of the bullshit feminists claim even come remotely close to circumcision, let alone the legitimate disadvantages women have in society.

[+]Divide5731 points 8 years ago* [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

For one, abortion not being murder is a huge feminist argument, and uh, plenty of us support not circumsizing but don't support abortion because we think it's murder. :/ On topic - yeah, thanks for that image. I never even thought about it before - it's the same thing as cutting of an arm or a leg because it serves a function on the body the way, and it's the way it was designed. And the greatest evil in the western world is feminism. That's why we can't have peace, people like that. Who want parts of our bodies cut off so we can't have as much of an enjoyment from life. And everyone follows it because no one wants to think about it.

Why would a circumcised penis not work?

[–]DarkDoesThings 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Circumcision reduces sensitivity A LOT.

[–]duckordian 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

We'll it's missing a lot of functionality.

Have you ever studied an intact, unmutiliated penis?

[–]leel007 -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Personaly mine is circumsized and is seems to work fine, minus the flappy skin part. And no i have not "studied" a un-circumsized penis. However i have seen one. I just want an explanation of what is functionally missing.

What is the Structure & Function of The Foreskin? (Circumcision) - 19:20

[–]PowerToAnnihilate 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

the foreskin has lots of functions

  • Lots of penile skin

  • The most sensitive parts of the penis

  • Mucous membranes

  • Protects the glans from drying out (kertization)

  • produces pheromones which have never really been studied, but they may promote pair bonding.

and some more.

Bottom line, it's not some "flappy skin part" it's a lot of very sensitive and useful tissue

[–]I_am_snonked_my_dude 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In my opinion, circumcision is okay if the guy himself consents to it and he is 18 years or older. It does not necessarily reduce all functionality, I am circumcised too, although not by my say, and that is all I know and I know it works fine. But my problem with it is that we are mutilating an infant who has no say in the matter. What if he wants to stay intact? No one has the authority to make that decision besides the guy himself.

Also, https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23374102 from user u/NebulousASK from earlier

[–]Elvick 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You can still turn the nozel, it would just be difficult without the handle. You can still open a door without the doornob on it, the mechanics are all still there. It's just hard, because then you'd have to shove your finger in there or find something else to turn it.

I think just showing a fresh banana left out of it's peel would be more apt. The peel protects the banana, it keeps it from drying out, as such serves similar function to the foreskin.

[–]elebrin 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Maybe I wish I wasn't circumcised, but there isn't a hell of a lot I can do about it without spending a lot of money on a medieval torture device stretching procedure.

Unfortunately it's mostly women who make the decision to circumcise or not, and they have no stake in that game and will pick whatever sounds good that their doctor suggests. Educating them about the whole issue is likely impossible.

[–]bokbok454 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I fought my ex wife and won. He’d already had surgery at the time they wanted to do it, and I said “no, he’s in enough pain, it’s barbaric and it should be his decision when he’s old enough to understand. Otherwise, leave him alone”. Can’t believe she listened.

[–]PowerToAnnihilate 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I am cut too... It does suck badly but it's important to still raise awareness

[–]elebrin 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I mean you can raise awareness with other men, but I don't think that will get us very far. Women will never care. They simply do not care about us.

I think the more important cause is getting women, in general, to value men as people.
