Watch it here to see for yourself if its "political".

[–]Justikyzer 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Man people are retarded, it's beautiful lol.

[–]Sasha_ 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The ASA banned the return of the 1960's 'Go to work on an egg' campaign because "people might think they should eat eggs every day". They must think we're fucking retarded.

The website has also been shutdown to protect themselves from 'vilification'

[–]warcroft 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And the facebook page has been pulled.

Recent decisions . . . required broadcasters to consider the content of websites referred to in commercials when deciding if they contained political matter.

The website in this commercial advocates against same sex marriage. They could have aired the commercial without the website at the end and been fine.

If you go to their Youtube page, you'll see that they have been airing profather Fathers Day videos for 10 years. For that reason and the content of the video being nonpolitical, I'd give them the benefit of the doubt.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It noted recent decisions by regulatory body the Australian Communications and Media Authority required broadcasters to consider the content of websites referred to in commercials when deciding if they contained political matter. In its ad, Dads4Kids provides a link to its website dads4kids.org.au.

Not sure how "recent" recent is... but that would explain it.

I understand that it's stupid to hold this commercial to it, since it isn't really saying anything, and there were multiple fathers without a female in sight. So it's not like they were all obviously heterosexual.

But if they actively enforce this on everything equally then that's just how it is. Whether they do or not, I can't say. I'm not Australian. But if their site is in the commercial, and their site gets political, then they are indirectly promoting politics. Which apparently needs a disclaimer of sorts to be in their commercial. Which it doesn't have. So it was pulled.

I wouldn't say that saying it was pulled for "being too political" is "wrong" per say, but it is highly misleading. It was pulled due to politics on their website. The fact they pulled it down, to me, just shows they were trying to hide that their site did in fact get political. Which is gross to me. Yay for archives.

I don't get the "Yes" campaign, to be honest. They've basically had a slam dunk handed to them- the Australian public is overwhelmingly in favour of legalising same sex marriage- and yet they insist on shooting themselves in the foot and making their side look like idiots. Abbot has been desperately trying to present the matter as a freedom of speech issue, and a "no" vote as a vote in support of free speech, but he had no case whatsoever. Now, as if on cue, these idiots are handing him a case on a silver platter.

[+]aussiehank1 points 8 years ago* [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

it's not being broadcast, because it failed to comply with the Broadcasting Act.

that is the ad failed to "identify the body, person responsible for the commercial, including the speaker/s in the commercial" in the final video frames.

nothing to do with Abbott, same sex marriage and "idiots".

[–]mikesteane 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is only applicable to political adverts; it is the decision that this advert is "too political" which is contentious.

And u/Singulaire is right. I would never have considered voting "no" until I saw nonsense along the lines of "this kind of advert could present the two parent family as the norm." At that point, I had to ask myself whether there was some sinister hidden motive pushing the "yes" campaigners.

[–]Singulaire 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's not being broadcast because some idiots in a regulatory body decided to pretend that it's an ad against same-sex marriage.

[–]girraween -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If the yes votes win, it doesn't mean gay marriage will get legalised. There is no slam dunk.

[–]p3ngwin 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Of course this would equally have happened just the same were "mother's day" too close to the vote right, right ?

[–]omegaphallic 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Like WTF, how was that political. And it certainly wasn't homophobic, if anything reminding people father's can be nurturing too HELPS support gay marriage, because it shows people that loving parents don't have to be women.

[–]number4ty7 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Australia is starting to resemble a lost cause. They've gone full retard on men over there and instead of fighting back they are killing themselves in droves.

[–]The__Tren__Train 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

well I mean.. not to be super dark about it.

but that's one way of fighting back.. you can't exploit and abuse what is already dead.

[–]rg57 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago* (16 children) | Copy Link

As a married gay guy who has a father, and many other men in his family who are fathers, I totally reject the idea that Father's Day is somehow incompatible with same-sex marriage.

It would have been nice if they'd included a few seconds of a two-dad family... but I can see why they might want to avoid the subject in the middle of a vote...

[–]Pornography_saves_li 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

As a gay guy, I am holding you every bit as responsible as an average leftist holds me, a straight white male, responsible. You dont get to take the benefits while distancing yourself from the 'radicals' if I dont.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

Thanks for giving feminists ammo to use against us. That's real great, now when they say that MRA's are all anti-gay they have your comment, probably already archive.is'd, to use to prove it.

[–]Pornography_saves_li 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

Oh, bite me you virtue signalling little twat.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, and you can fuck on out of here to some other subreddit where you're not giving us a bad name.

[–]Pornography_saves_li -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

Yeah. A founding member of the movement you glommed onto gives you a bad name.

Fuckin SJW.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Lol yeah sure I'm an SJW, also if you're a founding member of the MRM I'll go into my closet and eat my entire wardrobe.

[–]Pornography_saves_li -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

I hope youre hungry, because you wont find a legit MRA anywhere that wont concede that fact, from Paul Elam to John the Other.

And youre the most limp wristed, virtue signalling little twat of a wanna-be MRA Ive interacted with in a long time.

Congratulations, you fuckin dweeb.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Aww did I strike a nerve? Ok, prove it, because you'd think a legit top tier MRA such as yourself would have more karma from the fucking MRA subreddit, and well that's not looking too good (1133) and in fact I have more karma here than you do (1736)

[–]Pornography_saves_li -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Prove it? Fuck you, I put in 20+ years. I did my bit. The fact this subreddit has become a haven for lefty SJW whiners, a total corruption of the MRM, is not my fault, or concern.

And Karma? Who gives a shit about that....whatever it is.

[–]TibsKirk 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If we follow the logic of the critics of this ad, then any depiction of white people reinforces the normative demographics of Australia's population, and is therefore insensitive to how non-white Aussies feel when looking at representations of the norm. I can't think of any other objection other than it is a positive depiction of men, and these critics seem far more offended by that than concerned for the happiness or well-being of the children in the ad.

It makes no sense. And feminists wonder how anyone could consider their movement an attack on family values and loving fathers.
