An 'Ether Of Sexism' Doesn't Explain Gender Disparities In Science And Tech | Women aren't discouraged from going into STEM. In fact, the opposite is true.

There is a cult that protects and enshrines the faulty dogma that women are discouraged into science. This is a chilling quote from one of the articles cited in the text:

The business community and citizens at large are completely in the dark. This is a quiet revolution. Its weapons are government reports that are rarely seen; amendments to federal bills that almost no one reads; small, unnoticed, but dramatically consequential changes in the regulations regarding government grants; and congressional hearings attended mostly by true believers.

In Canada, the crusade is already coming out of the darkness. What mystifies me is the end goal.

How is pushing and prodding and manoeuvring women into STEM going to fix anything?

What's broken?

Women have equal opportunity and most choose against these careers, but so what?

Feminism desperately wants equal numbers of men and women in STEM and in politics and CEOs and so forth but why? Is it just to so womankind has more power? How does this 1% of women in these positions of power help the 99% of women doing the daily grind?

Is it that their patriarchy theory has them mistakenly believing that men as a collective hold loads of power and dish it out only to men and they want that power so as to dish it out to women?

Because if so then their in for a shock surprise as the people in power, men or women, don't do shit for the 99%

I mean we live in a gynocentric society where the 1% of men in power use that power to help women far more than they help men. Do feminists believe that the 1% of women they get into power will fix the imagined sexism they face like they believe the 1% of men in power do for men?

This is what bugs me about feminism and society in general.

Take Anita Sarkeesiens recent scandal. She claims she's the victim of harrassment while she harasses another. So not only is she not the victim in this instance but she's a perpetrator. But she gets people to believe that she's the victim.

With STEM women are encouraged most yet they act as if it's the opposite in order to keep adding more and more programs for women to get ahead.

It's like how we're told of how women are most victims of (domestic & sexual) violence yet statistically men are most victims overall and they specifically highlight these two as their the only two that affect women more, so they sell the narrative that women are essentially the only victims and in many cases laws and services exist to only acknowledge female victims so men could be as victimised as women in these two areas and we just don't know about it.

What families encourage institutions like Yale reinforce. Academia is a blinding beacon of modern liberalism, and when it comes to an all-consuming progressive ethos, it really is true that, as we say: “There’s no place like Yale.” The advanced introductory computer science course at Yale, CS 201, is taught by two brilliant female professors, and the department’s latest hire is a woman. Legions of math-savvy women enroll at Yale every year. The doors to computer science courses are wide open. The notion that women face large discriminatory barriers in the sciences at Yale and schools like it just looks, to an ordinary undergraduate like me, simply preposterous. The courses are there — I’m in them. The professors are busy, but they’re eager to help. The opportunities are endless, and they are there for the taking. Despite these realities, the consensus is that Yale and its students should all be ashamed. It’s hard to see why.

I've tried to teach a bunch of female coworkers Linux who seem curious about it or what I do. The whole matrix/hacker looking terminals tend to garner a lot of interest and questions from folks walking by. The women all get that glazed over look about 5-10 minutes in, and make little to no effort to actually learn. I'd attibute this to being a bad teacher, but the guys who are curious are far more engaged and interested.
