Good news! The more this happens, the more men will stop accepting these forms of discrimination as normal and start objecting. That, in turn, will create awareness of other men's issues of and anti-male discrimination, and pretty soon, governments and companies will be forced to create truly gender-egalitarian laws and policies.

I'm kind of torn on these things in general because carrying a baby and giving birth is an actual legitimate medical concern that will affect some women and no men. There will necessarily be an inequality of legitimate need for medical leave with regard to childbirth.

But in this case, it sounds like he had a legitimate medical issue in his immediate family that he needed time off to address, so the generalities don't quite apply.
