I was looking around some statistics in the National Survey of Family Growth, and found tables describing the age of first marriage for men and women. This data is particularly interesting when talking about women having tons of sex in their 20's, then wanting to settle down in their 30's. Some key points:

  • A majority of women (68%) and men (56%) were married before the age of 30.
  • Men are less likely to be married than women, which was also the case in 2002 (the oldest data they have).
  • 80% of women who get married by age 40 (which is basically all women who will ever marry) are married by age 30.
  • The majority (52%) of women who get married by age 40 are married before age 25.
  • 16% of women reach the age of 40 without ever having been married (which means they likely would never be married).

In short, the majority of women who will ever be married get married before they hit the theoretical wall of age 30. Only 1/5 women who will get married get married after age 30. Another section talks about attitudes towards marriage.

  • Nearly half (48.4%) of women aged 15-44 disagree that "It is better to get married than to go through life being single."
  • Only 32% of men disagree with that statement.
  • Men and women are about equally in agreement with the statement "Divorce is usually the best solution when a couple can't seem to work out their marriage problems.'' but women are more likely to strongly agree.

With this data in mind, it seems that women who "ride the cock carousel then try and find a beta to marry when they hit the wall at 30" is a pretty small minority of women, approximately 20%. About an equal number (16%) never want to get married, so very likely sleep around without worrying if people think they're sluts.

tl;dr Most women don't ride the Cock Carousel, but there is still a significant minority who do.
