Jesus christ, this guy did EVERYTHING right. He tried to defuse the situation, wouldn't hit her initially when she tried to force him to, tried to remove himself from the situation multiple times (while she prevented him from doing so), and only held her at arms length while she assaulted him. Frankly, he should have fucked her up a lot sooner, but good on him for doing everything right. I don't know context obviously, but I don't think anyone can say he was in the wrong.
