Sheffield United threw him under a bus, didn't help fund his appeal despite his protestations of innocence and allowed the howling of scum like Jessica Ennis-Hill, Charlie Webster and Dave Berry to prevent him from even training with them even after he'd served his time. It's testimony to his loyalty to the club that he'd even consider this after their treatment of him.

You assume that he hs not had a legal case against them - and his return and higher pay is part of the settlement.

#JustSaying

I can't see how such a case would have been kept out of the public eye or successful if it had been brought.

You haven't heard of a Super-Injunction?

Super Injunction: In English tort law, a super-injunction is a type of injunction that prevent publication of the thing that is in issue and also prevents the reporting of the fact that the injunction exists at all.

[–]DevilishRogue 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Of course, but it would be difficult to see the legal circumstances where that could apply to this case, not to mention that the press would have gotten wind and released information without breaching the terms of the injunction on such a hot topic were that the case.

New Press guideline post Leveson make it very hard for UK press to do as they used to do!

The only reasonable grounds upon which o breach a super-injunction would be if doing so acted as a warning to others and their welfare. That couldn't apply here. If a super injunction existed and Press breached it ... they could end up doing time!

I know of zero modern day UK Journalist Martyrs ... mainly because all the journalist have gone! P¬))

Blogging Kiddies would never have the Cojones.

Super Injunction should be placed on all criminal matters, and only lifted upon a conviction IMO.

Not one team stood up for him when he needed it, even though the case was quite obviously a witch trial from start to finish. Shame on every English league team and all the players who did not make a noise on his behalf.

Justice is finally done. Shame on all the reporters who lied about the case

[–]PJackson6 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Shame on the little slut who played the victim so that she could get compensation and didn't give a shit that he spent 2 years behind bars. I don't believe for one minute that she 'couldn't remember' what happened that night.

[–]DevilishRogue 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

She didn't play the victim, she didn't even say he raped her. She said she couldn't remember anything. It was the police and the CPS that framed him knowing that they'd have a good shot of getting a conviction off his testimony made before he'd spoken to a lawyer.

[–]PJackson6 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

She didn't have to say anything, just pretend that she couldn't remember. She was bragging to friends on twitter about how she was going to 'win big' from the case and buy a new car. Absolute scum

[–]DevilishRogue 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She was indeed and she certainly aimed to take advantage of him and the crooked system, but she didn't lie when she easily could have to strengthen her case. This wasn't a false accusation by her, it was the police and the CPS - that's the point I was making.

There will be tears, tantrums and much twittering.

I keep wondering if anyone is interested in investigating if there is a gendered difference in emotional reaction to 140 characters or motifs of birdies?

Travesty what the Crown Prosecution Service put him through.

Good luck to the guy.
