When I see people not in the know talk about people who talk about circumcission as an issue, they tend to take an "it's not really a problem " stance.

The thing is that most people believe what the doctors tell them. Most guy who are cut don't want to believe that they were mutilated. Most parents don't want to believe that they could make such a harmful decision. If you characterize circumcision as a human rights issue, you'll lose these people.

So I was thinking about it and i realized, isn't circumcision a textbook scam?

  1. they sell a harmful and unnecessary procedure

  2. The sell is based on outdated myths, blatant lies,and preying on Americans cultural lack of knowledge regarding the functions of the foreskin

  3. the justification is based on misleading statistics derived from faulty studies

  4. The doctors profit from the whole thing, including off complications

So if you educate people on the function of the foreskin, and show them the misleading studies. Will that make people realize that they were lied to by their doctors and roped into getting a harmful procedure done? Will people who are otherwise unable or unwilling to be emotionally invested finally see why some men are angry about this?

basically, I'm asking if anyone has had success speaking this way, or if there are any advocacy groups who do so. I also want to know? if you can prove the doctors lied to you to get you to except a harmful procedure, for profit, can't you sue them for harming your child? has anyone tried that?

TL;DR: Maybe characterizing circumcision as a scam could reach people who would otherwise never get emotionally invested?
