A few of my favorite comments on this:

Bull symbolizes raising of the stock market. And the girl standing opposing the bull... Defiantly... So the idea is that women cause stock market to drop and companies trading their shares to bankrupt?

This sums up female ideology. When men picture themselves as powerful testosterone full bulls, capable of unimaginable strengths, determination and the power for destruction... Women view themselves as a stubborn little girl, who's determined to have her voice heard but will inevitably get squashed by the bull because she's only concerned about making decisions based upon her emotions.

Finally more female construction workers, plumbers and trash collectors!

the irony is too strong in this one... The bull and the bear are symbols of the stock market and therefore the economy. The bull represents times of prosperity and rising share prices, wealth and general positivity about the future, while the bear symbolizes the opposite (recessions, rising unemployment, lower profits and falling share prices). Therefore having someone stand defiantly in front of the bull sends the message that someone is against prosperity and a flourishing economy... On top of that she symbolizes women in leadership positions as little girls...Basically this tells us that women in leadership roles are just little girls that do not know that you do not mess with the bull and that women will destroy the economy!

Feminism in a Picture

The statue perfectly captures the essence of feminism: A childish sense of defiance lacking a clear objective. It is childish defiance for the sake of childish defiance.

The feminists at Village Voice are quite taken with the statue itself, but complain that this feminist message comes from a patriarchal corporation. That feminist empowerment is portrayed by a girl, and not a woman, would at first seem counterintuitive. A statue honoring the strength of men would not substitute a boy for a man; this would be absurd. But it isn’t absurd for a statue ostensibly paying homage to the strength of women. Even 54 years after Betty Friedan published The Feminine Mystique and 51 years after she co-founded NOW, feminism is still somehow a perpetual brand new experiment. It is something we just know will bear good fruit if we could ever get around to trying it. The girl in the statue represents feminist optimism, in the same way the bull she is opposing represents optimism for our economy.

By making the statue a depiction of a young girl, the artist avoids the need to depict an actual woman doing whatever it is the feminists are sure women are going to do. It also caters to the emotion of feminism, which is based on a burning discontentment with being women, and a driving envy of men. Sticking it to the man is the underlying desire. It is about tearing men and their accomplishments down, not about women building something of their own. While a woman sticking it to the man is delightful, having a mere girl stick it to the man is even better.

I have to say they missed the mark on this one. If anything they could have had a statue of s girl running next to the bull symbolizing that progressing.

Hell Id even give you a statue of a girl riding the bull as a symbol of women taking on more lead roles.
