Thousands of dads are left in shock as DIY paternity tests soar. Up to 30,000 tests are being performed every year, says Alphabiolabs. In the UK about 750,000 babies are born every year. Feminists want the test to be illegal without the written consent of the mother.

Mother-of-two, 40, falsely branded a neighbour a sex offender because he 'made too much noise building a guinea pig hutch in his garden'. It seems for many women if they do not get their way they make a false sex allegation knowing a man is not protected by the law.

English men once faced the onslaught of the Nazis. Now their own women take them to the cleaners because they can. What happened? :(

Someone convinced everyone that women are oppressed, white people are evil, and having a successful life means you're a bad person.

Basically, someone convinced the West to tear itself apart.

Marriage is a bad rap for everyone involved, other than the billion dollar wedding industry.

There's no benefit to it. It's easy to get stuck in and a pain in the ass to get out of.

How is it bad for the woman? Doesn't divorce guarantee her someone who will pay for her?

[–]furchfur[S] 11 points12 points13 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yup you are right

[–]skintwo 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Nooooope. I had to pay for my ex husband. It's a scam for the lazy one to get money from the non lazy one. I will say raising young children counts as full time work until they go to school. Note this article would not happen in the US- laws are different here.

[–]Santaball 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

The exception shouldn't define the rule

[–]skintwo 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

What does that even mean? Of course the article is a beyond horrible situation. My point is that in US these types of stories are mostly impossible now. I'm curious as to who the lagging states are, divorce-law-wise. Anyone know? I think FL might be one...

[–]Santaball 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It means that men pay the majority of alimony so just because you're paying for a lazy husband doesn't mean that divorce isn't 9 times out of ten advantageous to women.

[–]skintwo 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, it's advantageous to the non working spouse. (It's just that more women are the non working spouse).

Custody, on the other hand, still has a way to come, but also has dramatically improved in many states. People forget how much state law can vary.

California alimony law is pretty bad: Don't get married or divorced there.

[–]ISOanexplanation 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You pay/paid your ex-husband? You, madame, are a double unicorn. First you're a unicorn for being "sentenced" to pay your ex a dime. Second you're even more of a unicorn for actually paying him. These are simply the statistics behind divorce court settlements. Don't make me go look them up for you.

a) laws in many states have been revised - for example, MA, MI I know specific examples with numbers. The nightmares that were once common have really been stubbed out. I know someone in MI who was aggregiously cheated on and he divorced her - and his income was OVER 500K BASE, probably pulled in over 1M a year, and hers was 78K or less, I think? She got - as support for their kid and herself - no more than 1400/month, which stops when he goes to college. The wage differential phases out really low and doesn't come into it. This is what is much more common now. This means that any spouse who gives up their career to raise a kid is at risk, man or woman.

b) usually the woman has stayed home, due to the rigors of breastfeeding (unfortunately more rare than it should be - hardest thing I've ever done), the one who gets maternity leave and thus is already seperated from work if things get so shitty that someone has to stay home, etc.

c) everyone should have a prenup. EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE A PRENUP.

d) settling the divorce without lawyers on both sides or a bunch of shittyness was best for everyone including my kid. It was unfair to me in a big way. But it was best for the kid, and if we had a messy divorce it would have eaten up what money I had anyway, most likely. Thank god that he and I had identical degrees or earning power. If he was a total loser I could have had to pay ongoing support, which is total TOTAL BULLSHIT. People are INCENTIVIZED to not go and find work. Grr. When I hear guys on here getting married, young, to horrible lazy women who seem to not want to do anything but chill, I just want to scream for them to stop having sex immediately and freaking leave. Cause once you have a kid, you are trapped for the rest of your life.

Marriage is a bad rap for everyone involved, other than the billion dollar wedding industry.

Let's not forget the $50 billion/year divorce industry (in the US at least). That is the sole reason why family court laws will not change any time soon. The game only changes when people stop playing it and the cash flow dries.

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points14 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As we see here, it seems to have worked out pretty well for the woman in this case.

Wish I could have someone else pick up the slack should I make a series of unwise investments.

Also the "expert" witnesses, unelected paper pushers, and paid advocates who rely on the status quo for their paycheck.

This situation sucks, but being married to a woman that I love and trust is the best thing that has happened to me. There's a lot of hate towards marriage in this sub sometimes and it really bothers me.

Don't let the bad apples discourage you. Be smart, name the right choices.

[–]issan1mountain 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hopefully you understand that the MRM started back in the 80s with divorced fathers who couldn't get a fair deal in custody battles for their children. Many of the men here had their first taste of institutional inequality via divorce court.

[–]MuhTriggersGuise 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is the biggest horse shit comment in thread. It implies it's the man's fault, for having married the woman. Your wife is great? Good for you man. Let's hope she doesn't start developing mental illness 20 years from now. Because if she does, she can completely fuck you, and take you through the ringer, at no fault of your own, and with no mistake by "picking the wrong woman".

Get off your high horse you dumb ass. You have a 50% chance of getting divorce raped. Stop admiring the smell of your own farts, and pray the good woman you have remains a mentally healthy stable woman for the rest of your life. If she doesn't, the state will fuck you. That's it. And you're a piece of shit for trying to make the man's choice the problem; not the ridiculous behavior of the state.

[–]bufedad 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This situation sucks, but being married to a woman that I love and trust is the best thing that has happened to me.

I feel the same about my wife.

There's a lot of hate towards marriage in this sub sometimes and it really bothers me.

Marriage laws are stacked against you. It's not hate for marriage.

Getting married is the same as giving the UK total control over our nuclear arsenal. I mean, we completely trust the UK, but could we, or should we, ever trust them that much?

Don't let the bad apples discourage you. Be smart, make the right choices.

It is not your choices that destroy you, it's someone else's. If they decide they don't love you anymore, have a brain injury that changes their personality, or even has a physical injury that leads to an addiction to pain killers (which leads to heroin addiction)... it's not your choices you have to worry about. You have control over those. It's her choices you have to worry about, and you have no control over those.
