As someone who went to Georgia Tech and had a good friend of mine have his academic reputation dragged through the mud, I regret that I can only give this post one upvote. I used to think those crazy stories of a rape accuser ruining someone's life was only something that happened at liberal arts schools, not engineering ones, but boy was I wrong.

I think the most telling line from the article is this:

If I had to go to the police, I would have lost all my power (paraphrased as I'm on my phone)

I'm sorry, but vigilante justice is HIGHLY frowned upon in this society. And I'll include social media slandering in that, since I think that's where she was going. Absolutely nothing is stopping her from keeping herself anonymous, or to getting full revenge in the eyes of the courts if what she said really did occur. But I've seen too many false flags to be lured out of my lawful castle to relinquish due process.

I've always had a huge problem with the fact that someone can be punished so exorbitantly by a school over allegations of rape that never even made it into a police report.
