However, between 1987 and 1994, apparently Fairstein realized the "truth" was politically inconvenient.
Alan Dershowitz observes that Fairstein changes her estimate of false rape accusations from 50% to 5% without explanation.

Everyone else, particularly anti-feminist groups, incognizant of the original article (@ 1st link) run the Deshowitz snippet of the entire Fairstein passage about bogus rape charges.
Without the "smoking gun" (proper citation), Fairstein merely ignores the Deshowitz snippet.
Then the best-seller: Until Proven Innocent is published in 2007.

Yeah, I didn't understand it either. For the amount of discussion regarding this issue, you would thing the top expert making such a definitive assessment would be very probative regarding the truth of the matter. What really confused me is that I also informed (via email) all the men's rights organizations and hardly heard a peep out of them. Pierce Harlan seemed to think it was significant, and said he would post it @ COTWA, but then claimed health problems prevented him form working. Paul Elam (head of AVFM) & Harry Crouch (head of NCFM), though I got a personal email response from both, choose not to take the matter any further??? Mr. Crouch said he had better things to do???
When America's top expert says half of rape reports are false, that would seem to me to be a great indicator of the truth. I can't explain other's lack of comprehension. Any discussion regarding false accusations should start on that the premise of America's top expert

The article in Penthouse was authored by Ben Stein pursuant to an interview of Fairstein. Stein and Fairstein possessed the entirety of the agency for the articles production. And, also if you look at the table of contents for that Penthouse edition, you'll notice an article by Dershowitz listed right above the article about Fairstein, written by Stein. So saying the whole thing can be excused because the article appeared in Penthouse is specious.
Further, if read into the matter, and comprehend the entirety, its clear the situation here is Fairstein made the mistake of candidness -- told the truth -- then realized she was out of step with the political zeitgeist and prevaricated (lied).
If you comprehend the whole matter, it's clear that Fairstein, Stein and Dershowitz all had a hand in misleading Western civilization regarding a very important matter!!! That's their legacy, as far as I can see.
The only way to reconcile the whole thing is to cross-examine Fairstein about the matter. As of now you'll find, if you read what I have presented, Stein is neither confirming or denying; based upon a misguided notion of friendship with Fairstein. So, if anyone sees Fairstein out and about perhaps they might broach the issue with her. Though, I doubt she will sit still for an interroggation like all the people she called liars throughout her career, before advocating long prison sentences for her victims. Hell just look into the Central Park jogger fiasco. Then there was the times Fairstein was cited for withholding exculpatory evidence. I could go on, in the end, given that the entire US establishment -- the Republicans, the Democrats, and the forth estate -- were all repudiated by the election of Trump, it is probably appropriate that a matter of such importance was presented within a porn magazine from the mouth of "America's Top Sex Crime Expert".

Rather decisive, and yet even that doesn't quite get to the whole matter. Across Western Civilization, the percentage of convictions, in terms of reports, is in the single digits. In response the rape culture lobby claims a vast conspiracy endemic to every country down to every local jurisdiction and police officer and prosecutor. It seems, according to the rape culture lobby that everyone everywhere could care less about women getting raped.
Or on the other hand, it could be that a high percentage of women crying rape are lying.
Based upon the numbers, it one or the other.

Problem with relenting on the point is the number of Women Studies graduates the "Rape Culture Industrial Complex" employs. There are 1100 local rape crisis centers in the US alone. That not to mention state and national organizations. Much of the funding of these centers comes from all levels of government: federal, state and local all make a contribution.
Rape culture has become the prime money-maker for the feminist movement. The women's movement is an active animated special interest group for center-left political parties across Western civilization. So, they are not going to concede the point that will lead to their own demise. The rape culture lobby will just keep asserting, in the most hyperbolic tone they can summon, that police are misogynistic and indolent; now, even, as women fill many of the positions of investigators and prosecutors.
So, it's a matter of politics, that's the front on which men are losing the battle, causing irreparable damage to so many men, and more so to our whole society. Feminism as it is presently comprised is an insidious scheme.
