Apparently this show began a couple months ago on MTV in the US but I only started to watch it now in Canada when Much began airing it. I saw ads during South Park and I figured cool vigilantes fighting crime or something.

Apparently no consequences if you touch a boy without consent. Which is what these two misandrists do, even going so far as mutilation and murder.

I admit I am drawn into liking both characters. After all it seems like their heart is in the right place. They both seem like they think the ones they assault are villains. Rapists who got away with their crimes.

But if you actually examine the detective work they do to verify that belief it is almost nonexistent. These are no Barbara Gordon. Jules for example goes to a garage and slices a guy's Achilles tendon because in the news there were three rape accusations filed against him. That's it. No actual proof he committed rape.

The hacker Ophelia Mayer isn't any better. Based on Hailey McMahon who she meets at the police station she reads a report about forced oral sex which says she tried to contact Damon Avery. She hacks their Facebook and affirms Hailey sent Damon "we have to talk about last night it was weird".

That is apparently all she needs to talk Jules into double teaming him and breaking his arm to sideline his basketball career when he dares to call the pair of ninja "crazy" after they threatened him harm.

I actually hagent seen any proof of any rape having been committed on the show. We are supposed to think Nate Griffin raped Jules but the flashback we are shown is only her saying "no stop" and it cuts away. For all I know he did stop but she considers it rape because she had to say it a second time before he heard or something.

Ophelia says she doesn't feel any guilt for murder because it was a rapist. Even though there was obviously no evidence of that or it would have gone to trial. It got tossed out because thee was no proof but they went and murdered the guy anyway.

It bothers me that there are going to be many women looking up to this behavior. Not seeing the problem with it. It bothers me also that in spite of all this I still lime the protagonists. Misandry is just so culturally engrained at this point that I have trouble being it against them. They are guilty of idealizing women and giving them the benefit of the doubt and emotionally jumping to their defense. I can empathize with those feelings getting in the way of logic.

That's why its so hard to complain about this show. My brain and moral scruples tell me to but I am totally suckered into watching the show and liking these knife happy vigilantes. It feels like siding with the bad guys against the heroes! Jules and Ophelia are clearly anti heroes if not insane villains. But giving omen the benefit of the doubt and ignoring the male voice and presumption of innocence is so widespread that it is an insanity I barely perceive.
