Using their own fucking definition you can show institutionalized sexism and racism against white men at university campuses all over the world.

Look at UC Berkeley (white men are less than 20% of the student body) where women and people of color formed a barricade near the entrance of a bridge and forbade white people from passing. Quite literally, the majority was oppressing the minority.

Look at alimony: women are the primary earner in nearly 40% of households but men rarely receive spousal support or custody.

These people live in a god damn bubble.

Not sure if you're asking sauce for the enrollment demographics or the blockade, so here's both:

I would LOVE to see a protest exactly identical to this one but roles reversed. A group of white men telling women and PoC that they have to go around and use the creek, only whites may pass.

They would be expelled and arrested within the day.

To be fair, the article was published in 2015. But yeah, the article is shitty.

From the same twat site that encouraged women to bully and mistreat men on Tinder: https://www.reddit.com/r/MensRights/comments/5avqri/has_tinder_really_made_the_modern_women_this/

Holy Cow, I can't believe this exists!

It's the exact same "nope, not even close to the same thing" comparison that happens when white people assert that they've been victims of racism: That is literally not possible, because you are in the privileged majority. If you think that isolated instances of feeling slighted or discriminated against amount to having the entire balance of favor in society stacked against you, then you're self-involved, ignorant,

[–]Badgerz92 19 points20 points21 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

TIL men are the majority

But office air conditioning is, like, totes sexist though. Can I get a high-five over here, girlfriends? This badass truth-teller needs a high-five!

I imagine racism (against blacks) isn't a big issue in Africa.

[–]Lice138 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh it is, they just don't call it racism. Remember the Rwandan genocide?

  1. Because I can't differentiate between the elite in the world, that mostly happen to be men, and the rest of the 3.5Bn men on this planet that have no power at all beyond their vote ... if they even have a vote ... if they even get enough to eat. When half the goddamn world lives in less than $2USD a day, there's a shit ton of men living in abject poverty, but I'll just ignore those guys.

  2. Because I really don't have the foggiest about actual history, and I'm working from fabricated history, because real history doesn't jive with my little story.

  3. Because I really, really, really don't understand basic statistics and think there's still active gender discrimination in our workplaces, despite 30+ years of showing that it's women making job choices and lifestyle choices that don't favour making money.

  4. Yes, tell me how your gender has hampered you from hiring when we're graduating 60% women, most scholarships and bursaries are for women, we have affirmative action programs and quotas all over the place, incentive programs in many industries, and even nasty crap like political parties around the world actively discouraging or even ruling out male candidates with their bylaws.

  5. Because we've retconned the term "sexism" to add a power component into it that didn't exist before intersectional feminism, and now that we've retconned the term, anyone WE deem to have been in a position of power, can't experience sexism. Nyah, nyah, nyah!

  6. Because when I generalize outrageously about an entire race, an entire sex and an entire sexuality, it's OK. Really ... it is.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What a cunt.

[–]feedmecarrots 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Stuff like this makes men completely unsympathetic to women. To the point where men would cross the street to avoid them.

[–]fengpi 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Selective Service would be a fabulous example of "institutionalized sexism" against men, except it doesn't count because blargle-dee-bloop and gloop-a-ma-gurgle. Everybody is capable of seeing the clear and obvious truth in that, right?

[–]ralphswanson 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Sexism is institutionalized:

  • Every law that discriminates in the western world favors women
  • Institutional programs and services for women but not for men, such as women's shelters
  • Family courts have institutionalized a gynocentric view of parenthood giving women a hefty advantage in custody disputes
  • Criminal courts have institutionalized the position that women are victims, resulting in much softer for women for the same crime
  • Schools have institutionalized favoritism for women with Feminist Studies, girl-centered teaching, heavily feminized staff in elementry school, programs and rules that are hostile to boys.
  • Legislative institutions give reproductive rights are given to women but not men
  • The bulk of single-sex scholarship, programs, classes and schools from our educational institutions are for women.
  • Institutional medical research favours women
  • Institutions of mass media supports women's right and laughs at men' rights
  • Many institutions support affirmative action for women

Feminists are the most sexist people that I know. They try to deflect criticism for reveling in what they consider this worst sin, by redefining sexism to excluded sexism against men. But, by even that definition they are sexist. They ought to be honest and admit to their sexist bigotry. * Register for draft

[–]Lethn 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Even by their own definition men face sexism, they just refuse to acknowledge it, which is why movies like the Red Pill are so fucking hilarious because they prove this.

[–]kluh100[S] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The writer is some pretty rich girl 20 something from Australia.

I'm sure she's experienced lots of discrimination, in fact I think her definition of discrimination might be men giving her an abscess of compliments and opportunities because she's pretty :-/

[–]Lice138 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have nothing against men being proud of overcoming hardship, or feeling like they've been unjustly treated. These are all valid things that happen to men. But they do not happen on the basis of gender.

Oh? I'm a 30 year old male

  • please direct me to the couple that will hire me as a baby sitter.

  • Direct me to my local battered men's shelter.

  • Why is it that if my wife treats me like shit and I kill her I'm called a murderer but if the genders are switched the murderer is now really a victim of battered wife's syndrome and is considered brave?

  • Why can't i accuse a beautiful woman of taking advantage of me while i'm drunk?

[–]Sasha_ 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ahh...and no doubt when men are disadvantaged, that'll be the patriarchy 'backfiring' will it? Honestly, given we built the Apolo rockets you'd think we'd have sorted that out by now.

[–]never_said_that 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The fact is, if you're a white, straight, middle-class man, then society operates in your favor, regardless of any instances of discrimination.

At least she admits the possibility that not all men are rich by default.

[–]levelate 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

the article says that middle class me are the most enfrachised group on the planet....yet their wives and girlfriends are sacred caws, hell, any woman is a sacred cow.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sure, men might experience discrimination, bullying or even disparagement of their gender, but this doesn't equate to sexism.

This is life. People believe this. I'm not surprised, but it still baffles me how people can be so dense. Must be easy to just float through life with pesky facts being transformed into Charlie Brown adult speak, as your opinions flow like water down a stream.

  1. I do? News to me! I'm sure homeless men will be thrilled they have the power!!!!
  2. "done entirely without women's interests in mind" Like how women got the right to vote... from men... men who afforded them the PRIVILEGE of voting free of conscription. And most men didn't have the right to vote either. Voting wasn't a "thing" that came along with our species that men have always had that women never did. You don't need women to benefit women... plenty of inventions to better the lives of women, were invented by... men too. Strange.
  3. A lot of silly old laws are laying around that take forever to get "off the books". Them being there doesn't mean they were actually enforced. I don't know if this one was or not, but the lack of any examples gives me no reason to get emotionally outraged as intended.
  4. Gender quotas say otherwise. More qualified as a man? Too damn bad patriarchal fucktard, we need women to prove how "good we are" at being equal to everyone! Men don't have domestic shelters, and most women's shelters will not help them. Homeless men get ignored while "women in poverty" get talked about as the "biggest problem". [not to play oppression Olympics, but being homeless is a step below poverty; fact]
  5. Discrimination based on gender is sexism. You're a bigot if you argue otherwise. Only a unapologetic bigot would redefine a word so that what they do and say doesn't qualify as bigotry anymore. Bye Felicia.
  6. "And being told you can't experience sexism IS NOT SEXISM." How convenient!

[–]ifelsedowhile 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

she talks about institutional discriminations and then lists catcalling as one example. meh
