Note the passive-aggressive approach: nobody wrote to condemn the victim ("he had it coming"), which would be victim-blaming, but they support the perp, erasing the boy.

The gap is real. The sympathy gap, the sentencing gap.

I guess this is a bittersweet situation. On one hand, I'm glad the judge called out the double standard and denied this predator the Pussy Pass. On the other hand:

[the judge] was distraught and angered over receiving so many letters supporting Ronk, but none mentioning the boy.

it's pretty atrocious that she was getting these letters in the first place

Situations like this perfectly demonstrate why so many judges do indeed give women like this more or less a free pass: because unfortunately, it is indeed what a significant portion of society wants

The double standard is very much alive in the minds of the people, and the decisions of the judges reflect this. If judges were to start giving women like this equal sentencing as men--or likewise, to start giving men like this the sentences women are getting now--people would be outraged and there would be letters and petitions to appeal the "harsh" sentences for women/light sentences for men

And of course in addition, a lot of judges and prosecutors themselves agree with the double standards, which also contributes to these women getting light sentences and amazing plea deals

So I'm glad this particular case worked out the way it did, but sadly judge like this--who are more concerned about the well-being of the boys who are actual victims rather than the women who rape them--seem to be in the minority

Judge takes the red pill:

"You are dealing with children that are still developing emotionally," Grant said Wednesday, the Free Press reports.

"To have this continuing double standard is unacceptable. The law does not recognize a double standard, the law is clearly on point in terms that these children are developing human beings. This was a person in position with power and influence over him."

This is another vaguely-described case, which typically means that he enjoyed it.

It's not a good thing that male accused are treated like murderers. THAT is the problem that needs to be resolved. We should not be expanding that problem to other groups.
