Perhaps the are referring to themselves or comments they received? For example I would expect the n-word would be tweeted out more by black people but that doesn't mean black people are more racist.

Women using then normally/ to 'slut shame'
Women using them ironically 'i'm such a slut'
Women using then unironically 'I'm such a slut.'
Women using them in the context of feminism; slut-walks, anti-slutshaming, etc.
