A former St. Martin Parish teacher pleaded guilty in connection with ~~improper conduct with a student~~ rape.

Kaylyn Huval, 28, of Breaux Bridge was charged and pleaded guilty to one count of ~~carnal knowledge of a juvenile~~ rape, said Assistant District Attorney Chester Cedars.

She was sentenced to 10 years in prison, which ~~was suspended~~ she doesn't have to serve. She was given five years of supervised probation. During that time, she must get sex offender counseling, she can't be around any juveniles other than family members and she must pay court costs plus a fine of $2,500. She now must register as a sex offender, and cannot teach again, Cedars said.

She must stay employed, can't go to bars and can't own a computer, the plea agreement states.

Huval was arrested in March 2015 after an investigation into Huval's conduct with a teenage boy, Cedars said. She was charged with carnal knowledge of a juvenile in September 2015 by a bill of information, court records indicate. The bill of information indicates the victim was 15 years old at the time and describes the sex as ~~"with consent."~~ not rape, because men can't be raped.

How is this a Pass? Men receive similar sentencing for this crime. Also, 5 years strict community control is no joke - no internet, no alcohol, no unsupervised time with kids (even family members), no travel without permission, monthly random drug tests for the full term, your partners must be informed of your crime and meet with your PO, weekly group therapy paid for by the defendant, sex offender registration for at least 15 years. I'm sure I forgot a few things, but that's a taste of what sex offender probation is like. Any slip up and she's in jail.

And, as always, there should be no sentence for either sex for this. Having sex with minors above legal age shouldn't be a crime, but teachers who have sex with students should lose their jobs and not be able to work in that field anymore.
