These have popped up where I live. Yes, these posters imply only women can be victims.

New policies in effect at California universities also shift the adjudication process away from hearings and evidence and deliberation to the single-investigator model...

Or as it has been historically known, the Inquisitorial System

No one expects the Title IX Inquisition!

How to turn your country into a totalitarian state:

  • generate fear (rape culture)

  • show up with a promise of solving the problem (destroy due process)

  • do it in a place where the leaders of the future concentrate (universities)

  • after you destroyed any legal way of anybody proving his/her innocence, show the nation the statistics what you have achieved with neglecting the presumption of innocence

  • convince them that this will make their life safer and better if you can apply it to less serious crimes, like murder or terrorism for example

Exactly. Pedo hysteria and Rape hysteria have been great sources of political income. People got off the pinko/commie train, the witch train, etc. They've found some boogeymen who just will NEVER quit in our society, and they're going to keep using them as long as we allow it.

[–]Kirril 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

China wouldn't allow this.

Sue the University of California System for everything they have; maybe they'll have to cut back on the 'Title IX coordinators' and 'welfare and diversity officers.'

Sounds like these college administrators are tired of seeing false rape accusations being exposed, and the falsely accused guy not being punished for a crime he never committed.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's because recently a lot of colleges have started getting sued when the accusations prove false since boys have found a way to fight back finally and it is going well so far so now colleges have to do this otherwise they are gonna get a ton more of false allegation lawsuits and lose serious money.

A college can't make law. This has lawsuits written all over it.

"California policies all but guarantee accused students will be found responsible without a fair or impartial investigation."

I disagree. It's not all students, only male students. I've never read that the Department of Education has ever asked colleges and universities to provide a break down by gender, which seems to be contrary to the way government treats every other instance. We want companies to provide their salary by gender, etc.

I think the DOE is expecting and counting on female students getting a pass where male students get expelled.

Aggravated conduct is sexual assault, domestic violence or stalking, in which at least one of the following factors is present: use of force, causing or taking advantage of incapacitation or recording or showing sexual images without consent.

Does "showing sexual images without consent" also include sexting? Would this then mean that if I ask someone for nude pictures while I'm drunk and he or she sends them to me, it's illegal, because I was drunk and wasn't able to legally consent?

Ridiculous.

Only because you're a dude. $20 says some poor sap will be expelled for that within the year

[–]andejoh 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No because you're a dude you'd be expelled for receiving them.

& here I was thinking I should apply for a PhD in a university in California. Guess I am going to not to that and look elsewhere.

[–]FruitierGnome 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Unfortunately a large portion of otherwise good schools are in "progressive" states, many of which are full of these sexist rules.

[–]Darth_Sin 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah, about that. Is there any list anywhere showing good schools that are in non-regressive or low-regressive states ?

[–]FruitierGnome 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Perhaps but I had a friend go to f.i.t. which is like mit but in Florida and he got falsely accused and from what I gathered can't go back.

It will not be easy to find a school especially a PhD program that doesn't have some type of bias against you.

Secretly recording anybody in California is a misdemeanor, if they have an expectation of privacy. The one party rule does not apply in Cali.

[–]ABC_Florida 9 points10 points11 points 10 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

That's fine. But what good is recording if you are accused by someone with who you never had sex in the first place. Say, you rejected her or you got some scholarship before her. If you have no alibi, you're still out of college based on her testimony.

And why is it novelty? In NYC two blokes were expelled for violating the school’s sexual misconduct policy (threesome with a woman). Both males had audio recording of the woman acknowledging the consensual threesome, yet only the males were expelled, since the woman made complaint. After appealing the school one male was charged with violating the school’s ‘basic rules of conduct’. So there is always some excuse to expel the male.

Shit like this scares the hell out of me. I have no idea how any of this is legal.
