This may come as a complete shock and surprise for you, Bossy Sheryl, but have you ever considered that most women just... don't want to work in tech?

I have heard the word "bossy" applied to males. The idea that it's only ever applied to females is just a flat-out untruth.

And let's be honest... Women use plenty of gender-charged slurs against their male counterparts: Dick, dickhead, jerkoff, jerk (a shortened form of jerkoff), prick, jizzbag, dork, etc. are all bandied about without anyone complaining that these are sexually-charged slurs.

Anyway, the point she's making... It really does come down to the desire to work in tech fields. I've never seen any evidence that women are having to get past any sort of invisible gatekeeper. What I see is the majority of women enrolling in college without even the slightest interest in tech fields; Not because they're intimidated or feel unwelcome, but because they sincerely find these fields uninteresting.

Raise young women to appreciate the tech side of things, and maybe they'll want to enter these fields-- Or maybe not. Either way, nobody is stopping them. Women are becoming Army Rangers now, and they get there by pushing forward and DOING THE WORK, no matter what. People who stop and whine and say "but someone in that career doesn't like me!" are not going to make it, no matter what their gender.

I guess what I'm saying is that if you're determined to be ANYTHING, you'll get there if you apply yourself, get the training, and show you actually want it by DOING IT instead of by complaining that other people don't want you to do it.
