This isn't true. Men complain. It's just their complaints are often denigrated, dismissed, and ignored. The author is right, it's likely due to social conditioning. Men, regardless of culture, have been the disposable resources of Civilization since the dawn of time. We work, we fight, and we die for women, children, and wealthy men.

In the male sphere to complain is to rebel. Rebellion is met with swift and decisive retribution - typically social expulsion (dead beat; malingerer; coward; imprisonment) but quite often, death.

I’m not hoping to see men and boys lobbying for their own gender-equity boondoggles, because a lot of them don’t need special help either. The students in most trouble are poor African-Americans and Latinos — especially the boys, but also the girls. They’ll never have an easy time making their complaints heard. But it would be a start if we all stopped pretending that middle-class girls were the ones being shortchanged.

Perhaps because men are taught to never complain, and "suck it up"? to be strong and deal with it and find their own solution, that asking for help is a sign of weakness?

This article is spot on men, don't complain enough. And not just on the record, but in general. we need to start bitching and whining more on the spot because that sounds like it's the only way to ensure fair treatment nowadays.

Men don't complain, because complaining doesn't (or shouldn't) change anything. Of course, in an over-regulated world, complaining actually does change laws. But in a "free market" model, complaining does nothing but annoy people.

Sisterhood

Men don't have a "brotherhood" to the extent that women have a "sisterhood". With men, if we see another man disadvantaged, we're more likely to react that is sucks for him, but it thins the competition in a competitive world. But with women, if something negative happens to one woman, millions of other women are there to by sympathetic to her and provide her with a "safe space".

So men aren't interested in having others share in their misery. Men are interested in solving their own problems, and bettering themselves, on their own. Women believe that having others share in their misery is, somehow, a "solution".

It basically moves to the whole "invalidating" bullshit. When was the last time you hear a man complain that someone else was "invalidating" him? Ever? But women do it all the time - hell, it is a banable offense on most women-centric "safe place" subreddits.

And what is "invalidating" other than saying "suck it up, quit complaining, and actually try to solve your problem"? That's what men do. Women find it offensive.
