I went to look for michigan statistics by sex. Found this: http://www.housingresourcesinc.org/sites/default/files/public/2010_michigans_annual_homeless_report.pdf

Page 13, 51/49 male/female overall ratio in homeless adults. Homeless children (and as far as I can tell, that includes people in their late teens) aren't differentiated by sex.

I admit I'm surprised, I expected the ratio to be more skewed towards males. At least according to this source, and with women dominating the male-female ratios in families (and also presuming homeless families have it harder than homeless singles due to having additional responsibilities and financial burdens), I couldn't say in good faith that "most of those suffering are men". Seems to be pretty even at best, arguably still actually worse for women.

Now, this does not take into account the amount of aid women vs men receive, but I don't think that's actually countable. My gut feeling tells me that women are probably more likely to receive aid because it's easier to garner sympathy for women's issues, but that's my own personal bias. I don't have any numbers to back that up.

And they arguably also need them more because of the children. What is Your point again?

Look mate, before we play this game for a few more hours, I'll tell You straight: I am not interested in finding a reason to care more about the homeless men than the homeless women, or vice-versa. I think it's surprising that the data I've found for michigan is so much at odds with the usual figures (that being between 60% and 80% of the homeless being male). And that would actually make part of the statement I responded to - "Even where most of those suffering are men, it's women who have it hardest!" not really accurate, since a 51/49 ratio is a very weak basis to claiming the "most" of the suffering are male. It's very barely a majority - at least considering the source in question.

I arrived at the MRM because I at least try to practice intelectual lrigor. I have examined the claims of Feminism and I found them lacking. I will not stop examinging claims just because I'm more sympathetic to the group making them.

I think you are wrong here. Homeless women definitely harder and it's extremely tough for them to get such products. It's something they need, and I've seen many stores kick out homeless people without any reason. They often don't have the cash. One of the most horrific things I have ever witnessed took place in the downtown area of my city, which happens to be skid row. I had just gotten off the metro and was riding my bike. There in plain sight laid a women asleep, full of filth and it was obvious she was on her period. I can't believe you can even question that homeless women have it tougher than homeless men. They aren't focusing on homeless women out of politicizing this issue, this is a group that really needs help. There are less homeless women than homeless men, definitely, but they are in more danger than the men. If there was a male equivalent of getting a period that was unaddressed, then we should talk. But this is something women cannot avoid. It's something that really limits them. It's something that makes sanitation hard. Overall I think it must be horrible to be on your period as a homeless. I think you're being a bit too extreme and unfair.
