Non-white, non-western, underdeveloped, war-torn, post-imperial/post-colonial, suffering under repressive religious fundamentalism. Every. Single. One. And you find NONE of these similar markers of America, England, Canada, Australia, or countries in western Europe.

Even an idiot could realize that life in western countries is radically different than life in war-torn Africa. But apparently feminists cannot. What does that make feminists? You decide.

What it basically comes down to is a combination of the "People in other countries need feminism, so you should like feminism!" and the random propaganda they spout that has already been proven to be false (stuff like the wage gap).

SO a white american woman whines about women not wanting feminism, there goes the equality stance cause they can't seem to understand that women have individualized thought and don't use feminized group think.

I think women in 3rd world countries need to gain equal rights. They need feminism like the first wave of feminism. You know, back when feminists were still working for equal rights. That or they may need egalitarianism.

When people say they don't need feminism, they mean they don't need the modern feminist movement (for example in the United States.) But feminists working on problems in America are probably doing more harm than good by opposing laws and policies that would make things more equal. Women should have the choice to pursue any career. They should have the same opportunities as men. In the US, that has been achieved. If you wanted women to make the exact same salary as men, you would have to convince them to value salary higher than other things and study engineering instead of sociology or whatever. Is convincing women to pick higher paying careers at the expense of ob satisfaction a proper goal of feminism? Or is feminism just supposed to give women the maximum freedom to do what they want with their lives?

It was posted by a doctor friend of mine who up until now I had always respected as being able to make rational, well thought out arguments. I was second guessing my negative reaction to the piece because of that respect so it's good to know I'm not going mental.

I'm a little stunned frankly at how easy it is for people to just forget logic and blindly follow this nonsense rhetoric even when they should be able to (and have been able to previously) see this for what it is.

I think the noise I can hear is that respect whooshing out of my living room window...
