What's really funny is the idea that:

we, as men, will suddenly accept an idea that is questionable, unsupported, or just plain wrong, simply because it comes out of someone with a penis.

Look at any article on "feminist allies," and you'll see that their function is basically to parrot feminist talking points to their male friends. This is based on the theory that men don't take women seriously but will believe anything if a man is saying it.

This is patently ridiculous of course. A good way to lose your male friends is to start injecting feminist propaganda into your conversations. This does not happen:

"Hey let's not go to that strip club, that promotes rape culture." "Hey, you know what, my sister said the same thing, but she has a vagina. You have a penis! Therefore, strip clubs are definitely bad now!" "Yay, I'm fighting the patriarchy(TM)!"

THIS happens instead:

"Hey let's not go to that strip club, that promotes rape culture." "You're not allowed to hang out with us anymore. See you when we're done at the strip club!" "Sad panda is sad..."

What it boils down to is that, as in feminism, when ideology is held paramount over evidence, which is devalued, appeal to authority (and any other fallacious reasoning) becomes an acceptable way of not only finding the "truth" (i.e., "confirming" what you already presuppose is true) but making arguments to others.

"If Bill Nye says 2+2 = 5, everyone will believe him, because he's a scientist!" "If a man says drunk sex is rape, then other men will believe him because he's one of them!"

You know what? That works for some people (that's how you get male feminist "allies" in the first place), but not everyone. However, it is at its heart fallacious reasoning that does not promote the validity of feminists' underlying ideas, and exposes feminism as a quasi-religious dogmatic movement, rather than anything that should be taken seriously by thinking people.

In argument, as in sports, you play the BALL, not the player. Pushing and shoving the other players will not score you goals. Only focusing on the IDEA you are trying to promote will truly convince people to side with you.

Whoops, I hope I didn't just render male "allies" COMPLETELY useless...
