I mean, a vibrator for a teenage girl is no different from a teenage boy jacking off. I think this was a bit of an overreaction. What OP should have been MUCH more worried about is that she admitted that she and her boyfriend have been sexually active. While that's not likely spmething he can prevent, he should at least sit her down and make sure she understands how to properly take responsibility for herself in situations like that. Using protection, testing for STDs, etc...

To put it simply, if a kid wants to do something reckless, they're going to find a way to do it. Your job as a parent isn't to protect them from experiencing life. It's to protect them from the consequences by helping them make informed decisions and weighing the risks.

On that note, if I were her father I would make sure she had condoms and I would ask her to not do it under my roof, out of respect. If they want to rent a hotel room for a night, that would be fine with me as long as they pay for it themselves. But I would also make sure she knows to call me in the event of an emergency, and I would provide her with a means of self defense in case of the absolute worst.

In other words, take an approach of "I can't stop you. I just want you to be safe, and I'm asking for a little bit of mutual respect."

And lastly, I would make sure she doesn't make it a habit to hook up with guys for fun. I would explain to her that what makes having sex special is doing it with someone who is special to you. The risks are huge, and can ruin her life. She should only do it with someone she would trust with her life. That way, in the event things go wrong, she isn't stuck with some obnoxious two-faced ass hole who is going to turn abusive.

Admins need to remove this. The daughters behavior is not based on feminist views that could be debated here. At best it is fabricated, at worst a father grossly violated his daughters right for privacy. Not to mention what kind of damage this reaction can cause to the developing sexuality of a teenager. At 17 a parents influence is more advisory than dictating.

It didn’t specifically say if she was sexually active, but if she was I would be more inclined to agree. Minors shouldn’t be having sex as they aren’t mature enough. A vibrator is the same as a man jacking off, are you saying you don’t and people who do are disgusting? The father was an asshole, I would expect someone that age to have a toy, it does not mean she is sexually active or has a porn addiction, everyone masturbates. People that use/frequent/comment on these low-brow/popular (in today’s world if something is popular that probably means its detrimental in some way) subreddits are all extreme leftists, feminists, and generally people who have the “if it feels good, do it” mentality, regardless or how depraved or debaucherous the act may be and damn the morals and the trickle-down effect a lack of individual morality has on society (spoiler alert: the West is fading, China is on the rise again after 1000 years, and I won’t defend the West or fight for it when China comes to collect on our debt). Honestly the problem here has nothing to do with vibrators or porn. Albeit those are bad, it’s nothing compared to her being a minor and sexually active. I know I would dump my girlfriend if I found out she lost her virginity in HS to a boyfriend and I would be extremely disappointed if I ever had a daughter that lost hers in HS. Minors have no place having sex, it’s already bad enough as is that people do this out of wedlock. Nothing about that is okay. Her body her choice but it’s your house she lives in and your paycheck that feeds her. If she wants independence then I say let her have it.
