The women in the article from the bottom slide discuss loving their son & seeing him as an “innocent being.” The feeling of violation likely comes from the mistake that the fertility clinic made — giving them the option to choose the sex of the embryo & then not following through with what was promised.

The lesbian couple still welcomed the boy into a loving home, & they expressed guilt that past trauma made it difficult to raise him as well as they felt he deserved. Parents who feel like they aren’t doing enough are often the ones doing the most. There’s a huge difference between loving a child regardless of gender, & choosing to terminate a pregnancy upon discovering that the fetus is an “undesirable” sex, as per the top slide.
