First, sorry this is going to be long. I can’t find ANYONE dealing with a similar situation, but I’ll be as brief as possible, and yes, I have a lawyer. OK, away I go.

Married 11 years, three kids, my wife made 71% of the marital income, I 31%. I have had forever, and she has known about since the second date, that I had a drinking problem. We’ve been together 15 years. In the beginning I made the money, about halfway through she advanced beyond me.

Long story short, she knew I was an alcoholic even before we married, refused to even try to help me at all beyond shame and guilt and refused all efforts at couples and family counseling, and kept a videos (of me) and regular drunk diary of me. I finally had a REAL incident, and was sectioned to the hospital by police for 8 hours. At no point did I hit or threaten my wife or kids this day or any other. Next day, DCF says I need to have a supervisor around the kids. The order Didn’t say I couldn’t live at home, but wife enforced it that way and would simply call the police if she didn’t want me there.

Four months in, she moved another guy into the house with my name on it, and placed him squarely between my children and I. There is too much coincidence surrounding this guy for her choices to be an accident. While she was doing this, I had checked myself into inpatient detox/rehab. I’m near 150 days sober.

I guess I realize since she filed first and for alcoholism, her case is not shot, but severely weakened with my continued sobriety. I think she knows this too, which helps explain her putting the other guy between me and my kids.

I can find so many divorce stories of the wife cleaning the husbands clock because he refuses to get help., but none where the alcoholic DID get help and what happened.

I know legal can’t give me advice, but is there anyone that can give me some insight? My lawyer is the lawyer most women get when they want to crush their husbands, and she usually does. That’s a plus.
