Hi there redditors this group has been an excellent source of catharsis and learning. Thank you for to all of you and whatever is your situation I wish you the best and don’t ever give up.

I have yet another question for the group as I am going through a major dilema. Are there any dads here in the NYC area? Where did you decide to live after divorce if you still have to go to the city for work, but also need to coparent and be present in your kids life?

My kids’ school and ex- house are in the burbs in NJ … and I am halfway between the city and their school. I hate the location I live in, it’s not family friendly, it’s just a dormitory that is convenient to commute to the city and somewhat (but not ideal) convenient to school pickups and drop off.

Aside from school/weekdays, every time I have the kids over I drive elsewhere to go parks or to hang out, or go to friends places. My location has no families or kids for mine to play with.

The dilema is, should I move closer to the city to a neighborhood that is friendlier for me in terms of closeness to the city and also able to walk out the door without having to always get on the car to go somewhere and is a bit pleasant to live? Or should I go to the burbs closer to the kids school where maybe I can find a neighborhood that is pleasant to live in but I will get considerably more isolated from people … ? Or is this just an unwarranted belief?
