My ex-wife and I get along quite well and talk daily during FaceTime sessions with the girls. That’s why what happened is kinda odd to me.

My younger daughter (age 5) has said some uncanny things lately.

She asked why I give them toys. I told her it was because I think they’ll like them and I want them to have fun and experience good things. She then asked if it was because I wanted them to stay with me. I told her no and reiterated what I had already said. She asked her mom if that was true.

On another occasion she told me that she wanted me to marry another woman soon. I told her I still love her mom. She told me that my ex-wife had told her that I loved someone else which was part of the divorce. That’s not true. I was unfaithful but it was a drunken one off thing not a full-blown emotional affair, so even if it could be said I didn’t truly love her, it certainly cannot be said I love someone else.

She’s a curious girl and has always found the nature of our divorce mysterious—she was only 2 at the time—but I don’t know if this is just that or maybe a reflection of some inappropriate conversations between my daughter and her or my ex-in-laws. Thoughts?
