it’s possible but will be tough to change unless she agrees or there is some significant change in the parenting situation. Remember also custody allocation has an effect on child support - many women push hard for primary because they want that extra dough. I had to fight tooth and nail for joint, and my wife threw up every argument against it (I’m mentally ill, ‘emotionally abusive,’ work too hard and too much (although damn she loves that alimony)). Glad to report court saw through it and with parenting time deviation, her CS went way down. But she more than made up for it with handsome alimony.

Stability and consistency and the best interest of the child is the primary consideration in these matters.

If you give in now to something other than 50/50 you’re creating a new normal that will be tremendously difficult to overcome.

Basically outside parties will perceive this as you saying your job is more important than this kid and it’s going to look terrible for you.

It's three times more difficult and expensive to change custody later on than to get what you want at the time of divorce. Fight for 50/50 now. Make it known that you will not settle for anything less and take it to trial if you have to. The walk up the courthouse steps where they're facing the prospect of a stranger in robes deciding their fate has a way of making a woman much more reasonable.

Once a judge signs off, they’re very difficult to change unless both parties agree. If she has full custody now, then verbally told you that she wants 50/50 in a year…. Good luck. Get it in writing now.
