My wife the love of my life wants a divorce after 30 years of marriage. I am devastated. I have grown up children who are hurting but not as badly as me. My wife and I have had a difficult marriage with nothing but struggles for pretty much all of our married life. None of it was our fault we had quarrels but not anymore than the average couple we just had lots and lots of issues with the children growing up due to their disabilities. We had so many battles to overcome to get them the help they needed but we stuck together through thick and thin. Some of the things we had thrown at us would have broken most people years ago. We kept battling on. She was my rock. I would run through fire for her and i still would because I still love her. Neither of us raised a hand on each other or cheated on each other since the day we met this is the only thing I am now sure of. Because of our circumstances we were always together. The only thing I would say was we never really ever had time to spend just on ourselves. Both of us had to put others first. A few years ago when my wife was going through the menopause. She told me her feelings for me had changed she had tried to get the old feeling she had for me back but it wasn’t the same. I was devastated we tried working through it and things seemed to return to normal. I put it down to the changes she was experiencing at the time as she told me she loved me again. Our sex life picked up for a while. My wife never talked about her feelings for me again. Then a couple of weeks ago after telling me 12 hours before that she loved me. She told me she wanted a divorce and she cannot bear to touch me. My world imploded and my heart shattered into a million pieces. I understand that you cannot make someone love you.
You only get 25 years for murder we have done 30 years together. That’s a bloody long time. We are not the same people we were manly because of what life has thrown at us both. I was trying to get us closer and closer together as we drew closer to retirement. Now the kids have grown up I could concentrate on her and give her all the love I had to give her.
I wish she had not lied to me.Telling me that she loved me. When it was not true. I could have accepted the truth. But now it feels the whole relationship I had with her was built on lies. She never gave me a chance by not telling me the truth to even try to save the marriage. I’m not far off of 60. Even if I ever got over her. Which personally I doubt will ever happen. Who is ever going to want me? I’m a few stone overweight. No one is ever going to even look at me. I feel so alone. Also after the divorce has gone through. I am probably going to be homeless as we still had a large mortgage, which I was going to pay off with my work pension. Which she will now have have half of.
