If he just moved out and is having an affair I’d say lawyer up. Take a snap shot of the accounts and make notes for the attorney based on the statements and any big withdrawals. Half of those assets are yours and what he’s doing is abandonment from what it sounds like. You have a stronger case in this scenario to keep the house and custody and he can just move on and pay child support / alimony if he’s going to handle this so sloppy. Don’t let his threats stop you from being smart about this. He doesn’t care about you and is only looking out for himself.

Something hard to understand is that there is nothing that will make it make total sense, and the sooner you get past that and start dealing with what is actually in front of you the better. Read through some of the stories on here that have been shared. Ignore the hate, its just hiding the tremendous amount of pain. Listen to the stories, the loss, its universal.

Pick yourself up, treat yourself with kindness, like you would you very best friend.

Woman here. Just saying it sounds like he was put through the ringer on his first divorce and learned what he needs to do to protect himself.

You should do the same, but there is a happy place where it doesn't have to be a bloodbath.

Most of the guys here were divorced by their wives.

If you look up the stats, you'll find that the overwhelming majority of divorces are initiated by women.

As far as your husband's behavior is concerned and going by the information given, it sounds like:

He's a card-carrying psychopath and you are well rid of him.

You crossed some kind of hard boundary that he has that you may or may not know about. Again, psychopath.

I've seen Nightmare stories on here where a person photoshops the spouse into a compromising position in order to break apart the marriage.

The most obvious: He's having an affair, and he's leaving you for her because he's a little boy who thinks that tingles equals true love.

Unless he's under some kind of false narrative, he sounds like he should have just had a conversation with you but he's just an immature fool.

Depending on how long you've been married, all the leverage is yours.

Between child support and spousal maintenance he's likely to be working for you for a decade.

Once you retain a lawyer you'll realize how badly he's fucked himself.
