Yes, you can certainly maintain relationships with your children. Also, you’re a parent so unless you’ve got some major issues you can absolutely go for 50:50 custody.

If you’re able to document the domestic violence and actually get a police report you could potentially wind up with full custody,

Again, lawyer asap. Even if it’s just a consultation.

No one, man or woman should be with a partner that hits them.

Make sure not every weekend is Disneyland.

Some dads make the mistake of trying to make all their time with their kids special by taking them somewhere or doing something amazing.

But that's not really normal parenting and they won't relate to you as a parent if you do.

It also can shift the focus away from your relationship and more toward whatever activity you're doing

Being a weekend dad is not nothing. It’s about being engaged, not bickering over hours per week. Nobody should mind their ex coming by once a twice a week for dinner, provided he not been abusive and there has been sone space for healing. I wish people would be adults and not argue over the last dime if the last hour per week of time with the kids (which many don’t really want that badly,they just want the other parent to be denied. The child can use a good second parent and to above all needs to not be abandoned. What kind of relationship will you have with the other siblings when they grow up I’d you try to exclude the youngest?
