I did. Wife left and drained me after 27 years for her AP. I was about 50 so I moved in and help my elderly parents. It’s been pretty good and after 3 years I’m loaded.

Honestly, I thought about it. My ex took all of our money from the bank account, left me with all the debt (it was all in my name) and I was laid off the day after she left. I thought about doing a total collapse, going bankrupt and living with my dad. If he wasn't living with his new wife he just married a year ago, and was living at the beach solo still, I might have done it.

As was, I got a crappy job to literally just barely paid the bills, and just kept fighting every day. It took about 2 years, but I finally broke through and am not broke anymore.

Find a (new) place you can have a dog.

Get a good looking dog.

Walk the dog 2x daily at the park where the singles walk their dogs.

Enjoy the conversations.

If you have trouble getting such a place, get your doc to write you a letter for an Emotional Support Animal. The apartment can't refuse you or charge you all the extra fees if it is a bona fide/documented ESA.

You gotta get up and get moving man. You don't need to be dating or whatever, but you need to be out looking and talking, moving your body outside, in a new place.

If you can afford to replace, I'd leave all of "her" furniture behind too. That which you need to keep,, paint a new color. Fuck it, it's over. Walk on.

55 years old and separated going through a divorce and personally I love the solitude of living by myself. Enjoying the peace and quiet with everything kept neat and in it's place.

As mentioned maybe move to a different apartment and see if that helps with your loneliness. Hate the cliche but being happy when alone is a "super power" for a man. It prevents you from dropping standards and letting just anyone into your life to fill a void.

Can you move into a different apartment for a change of scenery? It seems like you need a fresh start to help turn the chapter. Being 35 I wouldn't move in with your parents unless they are in dire care. Partly because you are at the prime age to go out and meet new people. I know picking up women can be hard as no one wants to say "I live with my parents", or "do you wanna come hang out in my bedroom"?

You are a grown man... even if you can't move, go out and do shit so you are not alone in your apartment all of the time.
