I’ve gotten a court date on the books. It is 3 months from now (2 months after filing), so am generally thankful there’s a light at the end. My case involves no children and the marriage was <2 years. My attorney has asked if I would like to be involved in selecting a mediator.

We have shared all financial disclosures for at least two weeks now, but STBxW has not made an opening offer. My attorney says most clients just rely on him picking one, but I would like to know if this is something I should be more involved with.

If so, what are the things I should look out for? Conversely, what qualities would justify me vetoing a particular mediator?
