I caught her having an affair and even though it ended the marriage, we got to a separation agreement within a day or so and we finalize in a couple weeks. She moved out and it's been fairly peaceful. No major fights or accusations.

Lessons - even if it's amicable, keep a detailed log of all money that's spent.

We didn't use any lawyers or mediation. We agreed to a 50/50 split of everything financial and 50/50 custody so we just filed everything ourselves. She asked for the divorce right before Thanksgiving and it was official as of earlier this week. I'm about to move out to my new house. It sucks, but I'm not going to beg to stay with someone who doesn't want to be with me.

She asked for a divorce about 2 months ago. We filed a couple weeks later after deciding we can do this amicably. Told the lawyer how we wanted to split things. Lawyer filed and we are divorced 27 hours later. Paid lawyer~$850. Hoping to have the house listed and sold soon.

Situation was easy as children weren't in the picture, our incomes were similar, net worth similar. So everything was easy to split. Had some heated discussions while splitting mundane items but we both kept a cool head.

Why argue over a $20 put when we still need to be cordial to sell the house. Both of us will lose of this turned into thousands in court costs.

I tried to fight for a couple days but then got some advise that you shouldn't be with some one who didn't choose you.
