I've been reading this thread for a while. I wanted to share my experience. I filed recently, a settlement with my stbxw. I had hired the attorney and the notary and she agreed to sign. She never asked for anything on the legal side, just wants to be able to continue seeing me and being in my life. We are friends and see each other every few weeks, and text every few days. I do miss her and she misses me. I just don't think marriage is the best form of our relationship.

It probably helped the divorce process that we don't have kids or pets or assets together. That probably also is part of the reason we split fairly easily in the first place, going different directions without much to bind us. She moved out on her own and got a new place nearby a couple years ago.

My new gf does feel insecure about my relationship with my ex. It's not physical or sexual, my relationship with my ex, ,and never really was. But there is friendship there. I feel like I want that to continue in some form.

I thought this would be a counterweight to many of the stories on here. Don't get me wrong, the divorce has still been emotional and difficult and taxing, but not in the ways often characterized of fighting over kids and material possession and money. It's more about time and emotional commitment and energy.

Still not sure I've made the right decision, but at least I moved. Just keeping on keepin on o guess. Cheers y'all
