TL;DR; answer is: schedule a trial
I’ve been divorcing for two years because I tried negotiating over the kitchen table and the lawyers desk.
I’m here to tell you that neither methods worked for me with the second one being well over $150,000 in fees.
the proper way is to schedule a trial as soon as possible. you can attempt negotiations all the way up to the trial date. but at least you know that anything unresolved will be completed by the trial date.
if you try to negotiate first,and wait to schedule the trial, all you’re doing is prolonging the process. because getting a trial date can take a long time(6 months in my county)
Do not negotiate using lawyers. I’m 100% certain of this. they’re not allowed to inject their own ideas to resolve things (some ethics guide). so you’re basically paying someone $300/hour to say what you can say yourself.

at the trial (or in the decree if you settle earlier) you ask to be reimbursed out of her share for her expenses.
that’s the only way you’re gonna get it back.

Damn.. that's even worse than the guy in 2 years 150K. You must be millionaires to have those kind of fees..and why? Why is it costing this much? Do you talk to lawyers every few days? Or are they charging like 10K a week or something to talk to you on the phone for an hour? That is just nuts!

Fawk..that sucks ass man. SOrry for you. I don't understand why some people do this. They are so angry/narcissistic.. that they dont care about all that money. Later.. I have to believe when they are struggling.. if they are.. they must feel so stupid realizing all of that anger for a year or two.. resulted in nothing gained, and utter unhappiness. It's so sad.

150K in two years? Damn.. you must make a ton then to afford that much. That is nuts! How the hell do either of you afford to survive after all those costs.
I do NOT get why either person wants to waste that much money. My wife is similar.. she will have no problem with losing every last penny.. if it means she fucked me over royally.. that would be her goal.. to screw me out of every possible bit of life I have left.. it's really sad people think like this. I want her to find happiness.. find the right guy for her.. and hopefully some semblance of a better life. She wants to destroy me as much as possible. It's really sad.
