My wife slashed me with a steak knife, tried to take our dogs, and then had me arrested because (according to the police) she has an "old bruise". Never mind the fresh 8 inch knife wound in my arm.

We've been separated over a week now, court ordered so no contact. And I miss the hell out of her. It's like a sudden death. The death of our relationship. We have no kids (she struggled to maintain a pregnancy, PCOS, not her fault). But I want every day to hold her tell her it's ok and somehow we'll move past this. My logical mind knows that's not happening. My heart hasn't gotten the memo.

We have our first hearing March 4 (week from today actually).

Sometimes, when she got really depressed, she'd lay on the tile floor and cry. I never understood that level of sadness. I know it now. It's like I've been stabbed and someone forgot to take the knife out.

When you truly love(d) your wife, but marriage wasnt working out, how long till the pain goes away? When can I expect to stop crying? Weeks? Months? Is it just gonna sneak up on me years later when I hear her favorite song or catch a whiff of her perfume?

I wish I could just burn this shit out of my brain with a soldering iron or something.

EDIT - yes I have an attorney. I actually filed for divorce before being arrested. Its bullshit because of her dad's connections but that is winding down. Court next, where my attorney rules.
