Sometimes I wonder if all it takes is the right nudge and people see the world through a completely different lens given enough time.

Social media is what you make of it I suppose, but more and more, I just see these really superficial people my age and it makes me sick. Recently, I fell out with an ex "friend". some time passed and I rationalised that I may have experienced covert narcissistic abuse? Let me know your thoughts

I always enjoy having a platonic friend of the other sex, especially someone I consider as close as she was. I made it very clear that I wasn't looking for anything, I very much wanted to remain single because of my mental health at the time.

Through time, I felt my self-esteem dimishing around this person. She would keep bringing up her ex, and some cases compare him to me (for some reason). I don't have issues sociallizing, but I have certain way about myself because of autism, there are just some things that I will never get my head around, sarcasm I sort of recognise from time-to-time, but I generally take things literally. She made it clear I'm "not her type, so it's better we are friends anyway", fine by me, I'm not looking for anything anyway.

When I look bad at moments like this, I just think, even though she said that I'm "not her type" or whatever, was this all just to bolster her ego? Part of me just wonders how I didn't see these red flags, we had a lot of deep chats in the past and that's why I felt close to her, but only as a friend.

But, through months she's made me feel insecure about my appearance, personality, social status, wealth etc etc. What's bothering me is that I think this is all too common nowadays and I almost relapsed into Blackpill. It's not that I'm not open to the idea of a relationship, I just think people most of the time get the wrong impression of who I am and don't want to be close to an autistic person that can't read there social cues and minds.
