Karma. It's called karma. Casual sex is not consequence free. And now the OP and the women he slept with knows that.

I pity them in that this will permanently change the course of their lives. However I hope that they take this permanent slap on the back of the head in stride.

The universe is warning them to get their shit together before they face even worse consequences. Herpes is mostly a stigma based disease. But medically is not considered too serious if the condition is managed and kept under control.

You made bad decisions. Now you have to live with the consequences. I ain't mad at that. Accountability for all.

This is propbably my most unpopular opinion, but people are usually terribly misinformed about STDs and catastrophize the shit out of them, leaving a feeling of "my life is over" if you got an STD as well as a huge fucking prejudice against people who have STDs. Really, herpes doesn't deserve much more of a reaction like "that sucks, bro", because it's really not that serious. The only part that's serious and totally not cool, is spreading it, which i guess feels terrible, but still, it wouldn't be as dramatic if people knew these diseases are not that serious.

A fantastic example is HIV. Most people are convinced that all it takes is for you to have unprotected sex with an infected person to get it. In reality (and these are official statistics), you have an average of 0,04% chance of catching HIV if you're a male (which decreases by a little over half if you're circumcised) and 0,08% chance of catching it if you're a woman if you are having sex with an INFECTED person, in a non acute phase. Seriously, look it up. And you'd have to multiply this by the actual probability of being coupled up with a partner with HIV, which are rare.

But people somehow still think that HIV is threatening and people get rejected for jobs, relationships, etc if they have HIV, which is just unfair in light of reason. In fact, a medicated HIV person nowadays leads a completely normal life, with normal life expectency shall the disease be diagnosed early, and next to impossible odds of passing it through unprotected sex (again, provided they are medicated).

I’m sure I got oral herpes at 15-16 and had no idea. I thought the lesions on my tongue were pimples. I wish I could reverse this, but we spread shit all the time when we kiss and exchange fluid. It’s something we have to learn to coexist with.

The problem isn't the Tinder hookups, the problem is the unprotected sex. The majority of people don't use condoms regularly during intercourse and even less use them during oral sex. People who only have sex in the confines of a relationship aren't protecting themselves if they don't use condoms and don't get tested before sleeping together.
