I 100% believe this. I always worked very hard and give myself credit for that. I will say that once I got into a happy and supportive relationship and knew that someone was there to love me and back me up financially if necessary, my income jumped up and has jumped up several times since then. Both of our careers have. He was on Disability when we met and started building up his own business a couple years in, doing better and better despite still having so many physical challenges and mental health issues. Of course I gave him emotional and logistical support, but it was SO nice getting that in return for my career.

I hate how the author (who of course is a guy) uses gender neutral language in this article, as if the problem affects everyone equally. We all know who overwhelmingly doesn't pull their weight in hetero relationships, and it's not women. There's a reason we initiate 70% of divorces.
