Be careful when you share your addresses, personal information

Years ago when I was very poor I had a roommate who had just been able to get herself out of a homeless shelter. While there she dated a man who was mentally unstable and months later he had other homeless friends keeping tabs on her. He knew where she lived and what she was up to. To this day I'm cryptic about the personal info I share online. I don't even order magazines through the mail because that info is sold to shady companies like peoplefinder where someone can buy your contact information, you can opt out of these sites but the information is public domain so they can just keep loading it unto sites.

Nobody knows my Reddit, most don't have my address and I change my # each time I move to a new city, sometimes like right now I change it more often. If you are meant to be in my life I will update you where I'm at. In the future I plan to use a temporary # from text now for future potential dates.

Unfortunately Google is a thing and property records are public where I live. That's probably a tick on the side of "pros" of renting but always be vigilant, ladies.

I have an extremely unique name and for that reason I'm very careful about even spelling my name out to men, e.g. "Your name is...what? How do you spell that?" First name and a computer is all they would need to find me.

It's also extremely important to look at what information you're sharing with a critical eye. There were so many times when I was online dating, and I'd shake my head at the kind of information men would accidently share. Something as seemingly innocent as sharing your IG account or putting your company name on your profile can allow someone to find a lot of information about you that could be used against you. Review everything you share and always ask "how can this information be used?"
