By stress situations!

Loss of a loved one, sickness, accident, travelling (no need to do grandiose travels, it can be a long roadtrip or local trip) etc. Anything that's not ordinairy and induces stress in 99.9% of people.

You check his reaction, how he acts under stress, how he acts towards you and others under stress.

I completely feel you. Even in this sub, I feel like some women are quick to label a man HV because he pays for things and is nice to them.

1... unless he's NVM, it means nothing to a LVM to pay. Men expect to pay for sex when they meet a HVW. #2... thats the bare minimum!!!

My LVM ex was super sweet and paid for 80% of everything. It was the hard sh*t he was selfish and lied about, leading me into a fake relationship for 2 years. Ask the hard questions and don't let them put you off. Assess all facets of a man's character.

You are absolutely right! You don’t know them until you challenge them on something they said that makes you uncomfortable. Until you aren’t in the mood for sex. Until you’d like to leave when they’d like to stay or vice versa. Until you live with them and see if they do dishes/laundry/cooking without a mommy to ask them. Until later in the relationship when they do or don’t give physical and emotional affection outside of sex. Until you’re sick and by comparison they are sick. Until you have a problem AND THAT PROBLEM IS THEIR ACTIONS.

How do they react to this? Any of this. The last one though. That one says a lot.

I don’t think it’s possible to know if someone is HV until a year of dating followed by a year of living together. Honestly even then it’s hard to know.

I married a man who seemed HV until after we got our first house. He pumped up his chest and proclaimed "I am the MAN of this house" - I calmly agreed and said that I was the woman of the house, hurray that he realized our genders.

He kept trying to insist that being the MAN meant being the HEAD of the house, but I never played that game which used to really bother him. We finally divorced after having children because he wasn't willing to be put second after I tended to the needs of the babies.
