Ugh LVMs love emotionally vulnerable women with trauma. They especially love girls with daddy issues. They don't care that a young woman is only with them because she was abused by her own father and is seeking love and acceptance from an older father figure. Instead of trying to encourage her to seek psychological help as a platonic older friend, they instead choose to sexually exploit her. Yikes.

So true. Something I think I heard in this subreddit that bears repeating:

A man who wants you to disclose details of trauma early in the relationship does so because he want to use it

Against you
Against other women
To masturbate
Or all of the above.

He'll also use you as an unlimited source of free therapy. His trauma and his reactions to it will be used to keep you walking on eggshells and second guessing yourself in your interactions with him. His feelings are your responsibility. Expect him to discourage you from seeking help, and to try to isolate you from your family or other support system.

And many of them will do it all while maintaining the facade of being a "nice guy".

Just fucking run.

I would actually appreciate it if the NVMs in my life previously saw their trauma as worth fixing, because they tend to use it as a scapegoat instead.

It's also used as an attack on her personality, for some sick twisted reason. Daddy issues are supposed to insult the woman yet the problem is her father who wasn't present in her life or was abusive.

And not only is male trauma seen as something to be fixed, it's also expected for the woman to fix it 🙄

This is so true. My insanely abusive narc ex who was twice my age had an and ex wife (actually 2) who was around my age. Her father was extremely absent from her life.

Now that I think about it, like WHY would he go after a woman who clearly had a shitty father figure and who clearly had some issues she needed to work on? He knew what he was doing. He was a man in his 40s dating someone who could have been his child. He knew EXACTLY. Predators look for signs of these because she was young and vulnerable and he could take advantage of that. He went after me because I was way too kind and soft with everyone and he liked that “vulnerability/submissiveness”

Then he tried to pull the same tactics with me. I don’t have any sort of those issues (I had a great childhood) so when he pulled the “yOu hAvE mALe TrUsT iSsUeS” oh man. Yes I don’t trust men but that’s absolutely natural given that most of us harass us, abuse us, rape us, and commit other crimes against us, including the horrific abuse he flung at me. So I ain’t nice with men anymore. Men can choke.
