Umberto Eco wrote about the cognitive dissonance that underpins fascist ideology: the enemy is both weak and pathetically servile while also being the greatest threat to the community. And it's the same kind of cognitive dissonance that underpins misogyny. Women are both calculating temptresses AND too emotional to be logical and authoritative leaders. Women have weaker sex drives than men because of biology AND we are supposed to commit sexual and violent crime at equivalent rates to men. Men are visual, YET cannot tell between the colours of orange and vermillion.

It's all a double-bind to make us distrust ourselves and other women.

Even if they are visual, they have no taste. They like cheap, shiny, smooth, the same all the time. I like balance, and I appreciate unusual touches that humanize beauty and make it special. They're tacky.

Interesting because don’t other male animals usually have physical characteristics that they use to stand out to females? Horns, tusks, bright plumage, colorful ornamentation... it’s almost like females are the more visual sex since the males’ prerogative is passing on their DNA as much as possible, while females’ prerogative is to find the best DNA possible... 🤔 So it would actually make a lot more sense for females to be more visual

Women are WAY more visual than men. We put a lot of time into our appearance and men don’t even NOTICE that we wore a different style of makeup or that we curled our hair. They can’t even tell color shades apart. Fuck men claiming they’re visual. It’s an excuse for him to shamelessly look at your ass in public while his girlfriend is sitting to him.

this mostly surfaces in debates about how men want women to look a certain way. sure, I go to the gym daily and put in the work on myself. I dress well and I invest in my skincare and what I put in my body food-wise. So why would I not be picky and a very visual creature when it comes to men? why do beer gut men, unkempt and living in hovels expect me to look their way?

the effort I put into myself means I have certain standards for the men I want to date and be with.

they always pull this card as if it's an excuse. it's as if they have selective sight. they cannot see for they refuse to remove the beam out of their eye.

honestly, they all want smart, youthful supermodels that have a cool career and rich (but not richer than them or smarter than them because it would make them look bad) but they fail at grammar and basic hygiene...
