To say that straight men are heterosexual is only to say that they engage in sex (fucking exclusively with the other sex, i.e. women). So true. This doesn't even have to be about gay men. There was a post about how (hetero) men only admire other men, never a woman, because they are only capable of actual love for other men.
They may feel attachment to, experience occasional tenderness for, feel sexual attraction to women. But that kind of "love" is not the genuine love (sacrifice, admiration, commitment) they are able to show to other men.
Even when guys aren't able to be "soft" with other guys, they will use women to express that side of them, not actually build a loving relationship with her. He'll use her as a therapist and then go back to the men he actually loves.

Agreed, I think that the toxicity of male relationships is that they are unable to acknowledge their true feelings of love an affection for their friends while at the same time only really loving and respecting other men. Then their girlfriends become nothing more than an accessory to show that they're not gay.
That fear of being gay actually diminishes the quality of all their relationships and makes it impossible to form.genuine bonds of affection with women.

This, lived with a couple where the man only liked his gf when she was 100% under his thumb cooking and cleaning etc. If she showed any independence / wants and needs that didn’t benefit him he was as cold as ice to her. She couldn’t see the gaslighting and manipulation for what it was. She didn’t even really think he was her soulmate she was just scared to be alone.

I don't think it's really about sexuality. It's the emotional connections and real friendship men are willing to build with each other and then just have a housekeeper/person to have sex with on the side. It's why men flock to r/DeadBedrooms and not r/deademotionalintimacy
